I've started a Horde guild called <Cult of Rapture> on the West Coast PvE server Hyjal. If any of you are interested in joining then shoot me a PM or a mail, my character's name is Below.

Hope to see some of you on!

There's already a WoW guild/other people with mains on other servers.

But n00bs who want to start and not play with KingGorilla, this is a good start.

King Gorilla's server is a PvP server, which doesn't even remotely appeal to me. If people want to play PvE then they can come join my guild.

just an fyi in case you are worried about pvp servers for ganking reasons. My reroll alt on a pvp server just hit 60 yesterday..I was ganked by a higher level I think just 1 time on the entire trip up there.

There will probably be a bit more pvp action in outlands though.

I need to know more about the guild before I decide to join. Is it a heavy raid guild? Do you place a lot of pressure on members to constantly group and go into specific instances? Do you require 'donations' into the guild bank? Is there a focus?

Man....what server are you on? I have been ganked so many times I cant even count them anymore. Did you just completly stay away from stranglethron vale completly?

Though I will admit its annoying at lower levels(20-35) But as soon as I first hit 35 and I could hold my own against/run like hell from most players, I cant even consider going to a PvE server.

yeah with the new leveling speed, you dont need to go to STV or Hilsabrad at all, and thats where 99% of ganking seems to happen.

could also vary a lot from server to server.

God no to everything except the question about focus. The last guild I was in over time went from a friendly casual guild to a severe hardcore guild and I absolutely hated it. I refuse to research instances, I refuse to do practice runs, and if a game isn't fun then I won't play it. The guild I've created is a low level (for the moment) casual guild centered around instances (most of our members are between level 25 and 40). People are welcome regardless of class, level or schedule, we have a guild bank but the idea of forced "donations" is virtually criminal to me and since we're all low level alts then raiding isn't even an option at this point.

As for focus, it's pretty much just about having fun. Come when you want, play as you want, and no specific talent builds are required.

haha researching instances and doing practice runs IS fun to me!!

Thats whats cool about mmo's though, they have a lot of stuff to do for what different people think is fun ;)

Ah, Im kind of a newb on wow, I only started back in october. Nobody warned me about STV before I started questing there. I hated every minute of every quest in that zone. Hell, I wont even help guildies quest in STV anymore I hate it so much.

If you are a pussy. I loved those two areas, I got so many kills there. If I got ganked, just hop into Public Defense chat and rally a posse. I led many groups to destroy the alliance scourge.

Actually I dunno why I asked for people to join my guild from this community. You guys are a bunch of jerks!

Of course, that's one of the reasons I come here.

Hey remember that one time we ganked that group for about an hour? That was great. Good times.

meh, pve.. I was just like you at first Dan. I started my first character on a PVE server then switched over to PVP just to give it a try... I will NEVER go back to PVE EVER. Hell I've got a 62 warlock on a PVE server that hasn't been played in about 10 months now. PVP is where its at and you don't have to enjoy pvp battles to do it.. sometimes its just fun to kill some poor alliance when you're in a bad mood.

Ive played on pvp servers since release (played pve beta) and I have never ever initiated a pvp battle with another player or ganked anyone, and yet I still would never go back to a pve server =p

I think it adds a dynamic to the game that you cannot get in other RPGs. If you just role play or PVE, you are paying 15 bucks a month for Diablo. I like PVP for those moments of exhileration where you kill a person why tries to sneak up on you, or you come across a gnome who just has it coming, you know for being a gnome.

PvP servers are shit. Sure, there are occasional moments when you match with someone who's about equal, and triumph, and feel great about it. Or maybe someone tried to sneak up on you, but they sucked bad, and you prevailed. But for every one of those happenings, you're going to get about 20 ganks. Even if a guy is your level, if they wait until you're at half health and fighting a mob, they come into the fight with a big advantage, and that's what most of them do. There are also the twinks who have gear that's way better than yours; when you see a level 30 character with a level 60 weapon enchant, well, stay away.

I guess PvP would be good if you enjoy ganking other people; I, personally, never saw the fun in that. Beating on people because you have the advantage doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

I don't choose PVP servers for two reasons:

1. I don't like getting picked on should someone take offense with me for some reason
2. The people who play on PVP servers, by and large, are much bigger assholes then those who play on PVE servers. These are the body humpers, the screamers, the racists. I simply don't want to deal with it.

I dont mind PVP now that Rogues are so horribly gimped. The other classes you can see coming, and it's no big worry. Unless you see a bunch of guys in a zone and not running towards an instance. As the thing is... those other guys... just afraid of you as you are of them.

Not that it would really matter if an alliance was screaming profanities or racist remarks to you anyway since you can't talk to them at all. There really is no being picked on. You can't judge something until you've given it a fair try now can you?

I leveled on a PvP server and have been on one for 2 1/2 years..or longer. However long I've played this game I've been on one. I just recently xferred to a PvE server and have noticed one thing; PvP servers produce higher quality players. I don't know if its because of the gankings or the constant alertness...but PvP wise most of the guys I've started to play with are well below par...but they're learning!

But damn...as the type of realm states....they are INTO PvE. We have like a billion guilds in BT and I swear I see a new warglaive every day. To bad I don't PvE anymore.... :p

I was waiting for someone to throw out the old "PvP server players are better." You mean people that PvP more are better at it? I'm shocked, shocked I tell you.

Whether they are or not as a general rule is debatable and more importantly even if they are better, that doesn't really address any of the issues as to why people avoid PvP servers now does it?

I was just stating out of personal experience playing, pvp only not pve, pvp server players are obviously better at pvp.

what i really like about PVP is coming across a player of the opposing faction *and not fighting*. just levelling quietly together. helping each other out here and there.

fighting is fun and all - but that quiet cooperation with someone of the opposing faction just gives you a feeling that you can't really get anywhere else. (i guess its something like watching a movie about WWII and seeing the alliance and axis sides sing "silent night" together on christmas eve, each in their own language...)

note: usually we level together quietly for a while, and then 50% of the time the opposing member jumps you halfway through a fight. but we both know by then that its all in good fun.

Seriously doubt there is any difference in the population of these players between pvp and pve servers.

Those people seem to be confined to the barrens for some odd reason anyhow ;)

I began wow on a pve server. I found the end game pretty boring aside from PvP. It got to the point, that I was only raiding to upgrade my equipment for PvP - I'm sure my guild was happy when I quit.

Now I've rerolled on a PvP server, because I was tired of walking around my PVE server flagged at all times, and having opponents engage me at a time of their choosing.

I started a Warrior on a PvP server. I've had him for close to 2 years now, and I only just hit 69. (I've had BC since release). It has to be the most easiest classes to level, but the most hardest at the same time because I get picked on so much. Since I respecced to MS/Fury warr, people tend to stay away from me now. :)
