I'm stuck on Gimme Shelter on Hard. I hear the note chart was created by the Devil himself. (I have completed all 102 songs on Medium though.)
EDIT: I'm talking about Guitar. I suck at Drums and Vocals.

Everything but green grass and high tides on expert. I've got the song nailed until right at the end with the Y-R-G-R-Y over and over again part.

Seriously. It's SO FAST.
And I maintain that those parts are HARDER on Guitar gamies than in real guitar. If you get behind on real guitar, you can hear yourself going too slow, and speed it up. The track fading out doesn't help me tell how off my speed is.

I was talking to my brother about this. A lot of the songs on hard/expert really are way more difficult in guitar hero than playing the guitar.
Except the solos. Solos are hard.

All I saw of the topic on the sidebar was "Ridiculous songs in Rock" and the first thing I thought of was Black Sabbath's "Fairies Wear Boots."
That song is ridiculous!

I promise you any part with repetition is harder in Guitar games. Any back and forth over the fret board or just 3 or 4 note repeated slides down/up the neck. If you went to slow on regular guitar, it would be a LITTLE bit off. In GH/RB, you're just wrong.

Everything but green grass and high tides on expert. I've got the song nailed until right at the end with the Y-R-G-R-Y over and over again part.I got through it by just doing "Y-R-G- -Y-R-G" and then saving my Overdrive for the insanely rapid "O-Y-R" section at the very end.
I'm currently stuck on the intro to "Joker and the Thief." I can get through most of it, but fail just before it stops.

I'm assuming we're generally talking about Guitar and not Drums? Because drums get really hard, really fast if you're not an actual drummer. Not to mention the fact that it starts getting more an more anal in the fast parts and if your TV isn't synced just perfectly, you're pretty much fucked on any rapid drum rolls (this has been my major frustration).
I just finished all of the Guitar parts on Hard the other day without much problem. I think on the whole they're all easier than most of Guitar Hero's stuff. I think they went a different direction with the songs, where its the rhythms and chord switches that are hard, rather than just the speedy solos (so I generally find the difficulty in the RB songs more interesting).
Fuck drums on Expert though. I might one day beat Drums on Hard - but Foreplay/Long Time is just retardedly obnoxious.

Def a tough song. I was playing that on Expert and got about 65% of the way through.

Big vote for Green Grass & High Tides for being absurd. From 80% on, it's just a viking nightmare. I can fairly consistently get to the low 90s now. If I actually practiced I could probably slay the damn thing. But after trying a couple times, I lose all desire to keep going.
And the transition from drumming medium to drumming Hard is seriously rough.
So add 'Just about anything on Hard Drums' to the list of ridiculous songs.

Damn, posts like these make me feel gifted. I got the game on Christmas, and have put a good amount of time in, but nothing insane. Right now I've beaten 85 of 89 songs in the Hard solo drum tour. I can also do pretty decent on some of the songs in Expert (though I haven't tried many, yet).
The Police song at the end of the tour is the hardest I've come across yet. I also had some trouble with the Queens of the Stoneage son (but beat it after several tries).
I started out on Medium with drums and had no problem. I've never played drums in my life.
As for difficult guitar songs... I have to agree with Green Grass and High Tides. Hardest song I have come across, thanks to the section people mentioned. I'm just horrible at the quick ups and downs like that.

I have to say, it was harder to beat GHIII on Hard than it is Rock Band on Expert. But as for Rock Band drums and vocals, I'm still trying to beat medium.

Damn, posts like these make me feel gifted.I also had no problem on medium -- I'm just not naturally wired for wildly independent movement of my limbs.
If you want me to rub my tummy and pat my head -- or swing my right hand on eighths, left on halves and double-pump the foot-pedal off-fucking-beat -- well, I need to practice shit like that.
Congratulations on being a freak of nature. I hate you.

Well, it took some practice for those off beat foot pumps... but only like an hours worth or so ; )

I can play the drums pretty damn well on hard. Took me a bit of time to ramp it up, but i'm really starting to get there.

I have to say, that is false.I'm gonna have to side with Whiskey. But that may be only because I have the worst damn luck against Lou on Hard. I was at the sixth set on Expert before Rock Band entranced me, but I simply couldn't beat Lou on Hard.
It doesn't help that the Boss fights really rubbed me the wrong way.

Heh - you're not alone, my friend. When I first started Drums on Hard, and got to In Bloom which has a bass pedal note between two yellow high hat notes keeping eighth note rhythm, I thought I was going to cry! I feel pretty proud of myself for getting the hang of it - not quickly, but I got the hang of it. I feel like my main difficulty now is simply processing everything on the screen as fast as it comes!

I agree that the boss fights were stupid and annoying, but once you figure out how to beat them (save your power ups) they weren't that bad.
As far as actual song difficulty goes though, GH3 on Hard is far easier than some of the songs in RB on Expert.

I'm in pretty much the exact same boat as you. Started on medium with no prior experience and have gone all the way through hard barring 1 single song (and a handful of downloaded ones I haven't tried in a while). The Police is definitely one of my problem songs on the drums, but I can do it. Run to the Hills on the other hand....
Fuck Run to the Hills.
Once you start getting deeper into Expert though they will take that pride you have and shatter it into many tiny pieces. Still fun as shit though.

The only song that I can't do so far in RB on expert (guitar) is Green Grass/High Tides. Most of the songs I can four star or better the first time through. There were many songs in GH3 on hard that I had to replay numerous times just to get through them.
Knights of Cydonia, One, Raining Blood, etc. were all much harder than anything other than High Tides in Rock Band on expert.

Yeah, my general strategy was to save up my powerups till we're playing simultaneously and then throw them at him one at a time. I just can't seem to ever be playing well and get lucky in the same run. Either I start making stupid mistakes, or Lou's throwing note-doubling and up-difficulty at me like party favors.

I feel weird because I got through Green Grass & High Tides okay on the guitar (hard difficulty), in maybe two or three tries. But I've been stuck on that damn Molly Hatchet song for about three weeks now. That's the only one I haven't been able to beat, I just can't get through that long guitar solo.
GG&HT was my "wall" on medium drums, even though it's not in the final tier. But once I got through that I got through all the rest of the songs in a single run. I'm still afraid to tackle hard drums, though...

I can't even get through the easy songs on Hard (Guitar), and Enter Sandman kicked my ass on Medium last night. I thoroughly suck, but it's still fun, which is the point.
And Learn to Fly ass-rapes me on Easy using the drums, so I've got a loooong way to go there.

Here's how to beat the crazy Y-R-G-R and B-Y-R-Y parts in Green Grass and High Tides on expert very very easily, I'll spoiler it just in case.
When this section is about to start, move your hands to the solo buttons (this is actually the only part in the game where I use the solo buttons). Assuming you play righty, with your left index finger, hold down the Green button. Now with take your right hand and go over the fret board so your hand is facing palm down (like you were tapping on a real guitar). Tap triplets of Y-R-R out with your right hand while continuing to hold the Green button with your left. Once you get the timing down you'll get near 100% on this part. Move everything up one button for the second part. You can also use this for the super fast O-B-Y parts later on by holding down Y with your left and tapping O-B back and forth.
Good luck!

I'm about halfway through medium on drums, and I'm working on Green Grass on expert guitar. I don't get to drum much, since when I play with my "band" Shadowmage952 is by far the better drummer. It's not even close, really.

I don't have a particular problem with any song, but Im having problems making the move from hard -> expert on drums.
