I can already hear the soccer moms protesting...

One short cinematic later the pair, who were what the Russians might call drunkski, stumble out and, in a goofy minigame sure to raise a few hackles, Niko must get Roman home. Because he's more than a little messed up himself, your challenge is get Niko's sorry butt to his actual car, which is made quite a challenge due to a wavy camera angle and, we're told, an overly sensitive control scheme that makes the act of walking a challenge. Once you get in the actual car you're burdened with the same shifty camera and twitchy controls as you make your way back to Roman's place.

I think it's funny. Then again, I understand the difference between fiction and real life.

Wasn't there something like this in a previous GTA game?

It's a good thing I'm an adolescent boy who has absolutely no way of distinguishing a 2D image on a flat screen from reality or I might think this to be a fun little mini-game.

Sounds kinda cool, and in no way a surprise in that sort of game.

In VC you had to drive a hummer while messed up on some hick's home-brewed liquor. But you only actually got messed up by smelling it.

I don't recall if there were any other driving games in VC or another GTA that messed up your view due to intoxication or some other method.

In GTA San Andreas there was a mission where you had to burn all the Pot Fields, then drive while completely wasted and stoned. That mission was hilarious, so hopefully this one will go along the same route of sillyness.

In X # of months, when this game comes out, we are going to see a post about how some kids thought it'd be cool to go out drunk driving to imitate GTA. Can we refer them back to this thread?

If you can drive drunk and stoned in previous games (not to mention killing hookers and cops etc) hopefully this won't raise too many flags....

....actually it probably still will.

Actually this sounds like it could be used as a tool against drunk driving....even though it does sound like the experience of driving while wasted is somewhat exaggerated.

That mission in GTA: SA was pretty funny, and this one probably will be, too. That's one of the things I love about the series, its sense of humor - it has been really hit or miss in some of the clones, like Saint's Row.

If people get offended by any game, they don't have to play it. They don't have to buy it for their kids. They can buy them a Wii instead of another console.

People are stupid. It's an incurable disease that spreads further each day.

I HATE being an adolescent boy who can't tell reality from fantasy! :(

That's as far as I got in that damn game. The cinematic plays then the screen goes black with the sound of the game still playing normally on the black screen. Twice it happened to me, it will not get a replay again, which is a shame as I was really enjoying it.

And Jack Thompson will be representing them of course.

Actually I think this is a good thing to have in the game and parents should see that. This will show kids how difficult it is to do simple tasks like walking and driving when under the influence and make them less likely to do it in real life.

PC? I've never had that happen on a console (though they do like to freeze and screech)...

Right before their character shoots someone and escape the police by pulling into a garage...kids shouldn't experience the game period, even for a demonstration of what not to do.

Yeah sorry, on the PC. Once on Xp and another on Vista. The first time it happend to me was the meeting mission between the gangs where the police raid the meeting. I was so happy when it went past it in Vista, I thought everything was gonna be alright, till it happened in the other mission.

The first time I saw a drunk guy walking around and trying simple tasks it looked kinda fun! 20 years later, not only was my hunch proven correct, but I also found alcohol made me feel wittier by a margin of 10%. Thanks Alcohol!

That was 10% less witty than you thought it was, bottoms up! ;)

Yeah, no offense to PC gamers, but that's one of the reasons I prefer my consoles. If something goes wrong, it is usually either something in the game (and most everyone is experiencing it) or it can be fixed by hitting reset. Seems like when it comes to a PC, the variables are too numerous to easily figure out.

Again, not knocking PC gamers (I'll admit, it has its perks, as well), I'm just lazy. :p

I love it, stick the GTA name on it, and it causes an uproar. Let's forget about games like Conker's Bad Fur Day or Fable.

Yeah but when it works it works soooooo much better, not to mention the increase in visual quality in a lot of cases.:)

Oh, I understand the advantages, I just lack the time, money and dedication to take...er, advantage...of it. That was strangely redundant, but I think you'll understand.

After a few calls to local ambulance chasers they're going to claim they were imitating GTA.

Someone just needs to make a game with rape, necro, bestiality, the ability to play as a child molesting priest, heroin addiction emulation, war starting, gangbanging, incest orgy etc etc

If we did that everyone wins. We get to play GTA etc and be left alone; while all the fuckups and retarded politicians, lawyers and all can pump their energies into this scapegoat decoy.

What about a Skull Fuck Simulator? That would be key.

Expect them to revise the mission in which you are to call a cab for your buddy.
