id Software and Activision send along word that they will be showing off Quake 4's multiplayer at the upcoming QuakeCon convention.

3…2…1…FIGHT! id Software and Activision, Inc. give multiplayer gaming a shot of adrenaline with the announcement that QUAKE 4 multiplayer will be unveiled at the 10th Annual QuakeCon – the nation’s largest and most legendary video game festival and tournament. In addition, QuakeCon 2005 will also play host to the first showing of DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil for the Xbox video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. QuakeCon 2005 will attract more than 6,000 video game fans from around the world and is being held at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas from August 11-14.

QUAKE 4 marks the return of id’s trademark deathmatch-style multiplayer formula. Online gameplay action in QUAKE 4 is based on the speed, style and overall multiplayer feel found in the popular QUAKE III Arena, and allows gamers to play in Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Arena, CTF and Tournament modes on the Strogg or Marine teams. QUAKE 4 is being developed by Raven Software in cooperation with id Software. For more information on QUAKE 4, please visit the official website at www.QUAKE4GAME.com (http://www.QUAKE4GAME.com).

Giving fans a sneak-peek at some of the most anticipated upcoming titles has become a tradition, and this year is no different. For the first time ever, QuakeCon attendees will be able to get their hands on DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil for Xbox. Co-developed by Nerve Software and id Software, DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil is a stand-alone extension of the DOOM 3 saga and delivers more terror and fast-paced action in mankind’s battle to overcome Hell. The game features a fresh storyline with all-new levels, beasts and powerful weapons, including the gravity-defying “Grabber,” the time-manipulating “Artifact,” and the return of the double barreled Shotgun.

Both games are rated “M” for Mature by the ESRB.

Yippie? Hmmm nah more like *yawn*, who gives a fuck anymore? It's not made by iD, altho Raven made SOF2 have fun multiplay, about the only redeeming point of that game. Maybe this one will have good MP? Who knows? more importantly who cares? They even give away what CGW stated as a "twist" in this trailer, that you eventually become a Strogg, OMG HOW COOL111111!!!!oneoneoneoenoenelvelevenvenelvnelne. *yawn*

Eh, I care. :-) Raven has a history of turning id tech demos into real games.

I'm just glad that Resurrection of Evil is coming to XBOX, being that my PC still can't even run Doom 3 yet. I do enjoy playing Doom 3 DM on Live on occasion; it's a nice, faster change of pace from Halo 2. 8 player ctf should be fun.

I care. If you are into FPS games and you don't care get the fuck off this site or educate yourself on the title. This is not Doom3.

Oops, I fucked up... I thought the Resurrection of Evil stuff was describing Quake 4. Made it sound extra weak.

Anyway, I'm still massively skeptical about the new Quake. Raven, don't let me down.

Gameplaywise, arguable, but irrelevant to Quake4.

I am starving for a good quake style deathmatch. all this realism in multiplayer shooters (don't pull out UT as alternative, never liked it) is getting boring. this might be it.
