During an appearance at the Convent Avenue Baptist Church in Harlem, the former president seemed to get a little sleepy.

I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. Politicians (he still is one) must live most of their lives exhausted.

I can't blame the guy.

Most interesting thing done by a Clinton in the past two years.

That looks just like me in my after lunch university classes. At least he didn't do the full on body jerk that sometimes happens when you catch yourself falling asleep.

Who doesn't sleep in church?

Strange, that is the same effect his wife has on me! *rim shot* :p

But I can imagine, they are going hard all day, suprised they don't fall over more often.

If I was a politician I would probably do this.

Hehe, funny. I'm sure there are people trying to spin this as a "CLINTON DOESN'T CARE ABOUT MARTIN LUTHER KING!" bit, and for that I feel bad for him, but that video is certainly chuckle worthy.

And I agree it could have been worse if he had done the full body jerk. That certainly falls just below waking up with a moan or sigh or screech in the hierarchy of embarrassment.

Campaigning is tiring. There, I said it.

That is kind of funny. The BAD part, is that he was up on stage. If he hadn't been, it would have not been a big deal... but when you are up there, you have to suck it up...

Ultimately, I can't blame him too much. campaigning looks to be exhausting. He is human. Anyone that spins this, is an ass. Well, unless he was getting all-night hummers from Monica... ;-)

I'm sure the guy has a busy life...that must have been awkward for him. There's better dirt out there than this.

Give the guy a break - I'm not a fan, but I can even understand falling asleep at these things. Seriously. With all of the campaining Hillary is dragging him into, I'm sure he's beat. Especially since he has campaigned once before for himself.

I like how he turns the head drop into the knod of agreement. Very slick. I've used that move before.

I think Hillary kept him up too late with that naughty style she does so well.

Obviously no women in the congregation to his liking, so he resorts to a little shuteye.

Shame, too, as he looked like he was really trying to get into that speech....

He was with four chicks the previous night (it was a work night).

Reminds me of a great picture in Time Magazine with John Kerry giving a "riled up" speech, as the quotation said.

Half the front row was asleep and the other half was looking off into other directions. Time fucking Magazine.

Mistress Mandy for your...pleasure.

..and oh my can you blame him for falling asleep. How many times do you think he's heard the speech? It also seems like the speaker was just droning on and on.

I don't ever want to forget the past and how far some people have come and how far they need to go, but I think sometimes it becomes too much, even the high brow political correctness of it all.

Well, I can't say that I disagree with a lot of the sentiments here about Bill's actions being understandable. I can't help to wonder, though, what kind of reactions we'd be getting if some conservative, particularly President Bush, were the one in the video. Would everyone be just as quick to come and defend old George?

I understand where he is coming from. As an alter boy I learned to yawn without allowing my mouth to open. Still comes in handy.

Hm. Me thinks it may have been a leading news story? That's not me, just the media.

It will be news when George Bush wakes up, not when he falls asleep.

Good thing this wasn't Bush nodding off. Woulda been a front page story, and this thread would be full of people claiming Bush hates blacks. ;)

Well, I wasn't referring to you and only you. And also, I SAID that I agree that this is probably nothing to get huffy about, in regards to Clinton. But when Bush stutters, or says something a little funny, it seems we get a whole lot of "what a moron" and very little "what a surprise... he's human".

I'm not a fan of Clinton (either one) at all, but I can't blame him for falling asleep either, that speech was just so boring and the speaker's voice so droning. Hell, I'd have easily fallen asleep - and with copious amounts of drool, I'm sure - but I probably wouldn't have thought to cover it up with a nod in agreement; that was priceless. :D

"Look at me, honey! I'm like one of the boys!"

I really wish Hillary would stop playing "I wear pants too!".

She should just stop it.

We'd understand, but instead of defending, we'd laugh at him. My first reaction would be to hate him, but after a moment it'd switch to "haha that's funny."
