Ever dubious gaming Blog Kotaku (http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/serious-sam-2/serious-sam-2-with-16-player-coop-116482.php) is reporting that Serious Sam 2 will contain a 16 player Co-Op mode to take you through the entire length of the game.

Very very cool if this holds true.

Woah, now all I need to do is make 15 friends.

yea and I thought it was hard enough to ge someone for 2 player co-op...

I hope that means in 16 player mode it's really hard, or something, wouldn't that be to easy?

Why not, the first game did exactly the same thing. I seem to remember very large co-op battles full of skeleton-horses, charging bulls and screaming kamikazes.

Yes, it's true. We got the press release this morning confirming that there'd be 16-player Co-Op support for the PC and 4-player Co-Op support via Xbox Live. The maps will be adjusted when you select the Co-Op mode to make it a bit more interesting as well.

2K Games also marked October 14 for the game's official release date, which means that the demo should be out in mid-September.

In Serious Sam The first encounter and The second encounter you could set the difficulty to Serious or something like that. The monsters were half invisible and needed a ton of bullets to die. So don't worry. It can be hard enough!

Oh man. Another plus for this game.

This should be fun at a LAN.

I would hope they have support to find games on the internet. I don't have 40 friends to play Battlefield 2 with, but there are games to be had.

Edit: Of course, I realize co-op mode is more fun with people you know. (And I also realize you were making a joke. I'm just putting my 2 cents in.)

My very best LAN experience ever was 8-player Serious Sam co-op. For that reason I just cannot figure out why so few developers include it as a multiplayer component. Painkiller co-op would make me tingly in ways not entirely wholesome....

I played the first Serious Sam coop with 5 other people over a lan in the same room. Frankly, it was one of the best video-game experiences I've ever had. That game is such stupid fun, I still remember when the giant santa-claus (I AM NOT KIDDING) came around the hill and started throwing bombs at us. We were all screaming like little school girls. Which is quite something for a game to do to a bunch of jaded 30 year olds.

Almost managed to play through Second Encounter with 6 people at a lan. It took forever because he had the difficulty and monster health set so freaking high. Great fun though, I loved the gravity effects.

I dunno. Maybe EA isn't quite as quick, but I can't stand looking at Kotaku for longer than a couple minutes.

They aren't that quick. The Serious Sam 2 news for example has been available since early this morning and quite a few sites had it up (including mine) before Kotaku came close to having it up.

Plus, other sites like EA, Shack, and FRN tend to be a bit more informative then Kotaku when it comes to posting news like that (aka the other five screenshots that aren't visible in their SS2 post). I'll take "delayed" news over the "other" guys anyday of the week.

Again, I wonder aloud how this is a scoop or even news, when both Serious Sam encounters previously supported internet co-op. Maybe since so few games support co-op, we forget that Croteam has been committed to it all along?

This just in: Quake 4 to support multiplayer!

The whole issue wasn't that it was new, but rather that it was returning due to popular demand. It's what you and I call a selling point.

Plus, the 16-player support is new for the PC and this is first time that Serious Sam will be playable via Xbox Live.

Wait, are we talking about Kotaku or IGN? :p

Just kidding, har har.

Back on topic, co-op in any form is the shit. Croteam should be applauded for keeping a sense of humor in the latest slew of realistic games, too.
