So I've found myself playing Crackdown more and more lately. Last night I was co-oping with a buddy for about 4 hours. God damn is that game fun. All the new content they added really gives you plenty of things to do.

That's one game that I wish I'd bought instead of rented. Even though I had it long enough to beat it and unlock a lot of the achievements... I found myself still wanting to play after that. And not *just* to get all the orbs - though that was hella fun, too.

I have a $45 gift card for Gamestop floating around from Christmas... maybe I'll forgo using it towards a new game and just pick that one up on the cheap.

same here, it has actually become one of my favorite games on the 360. there is something about just how fun it is to mess around in the city, particularly after you have maximized your skills and can do what you want without reprecusion.

i wish from some sort of sequel but i dont think that will ever happen.

I played the demo and I did not like it at all. Has anyone played the demo and not like, bought it and then was real happy with it?

That's funny, I just recently picked it up again to try to finish it. It got lost in the shuffle last year as more games came out.

That's EXACTLY what I did... except I didn't buy it. I played the demo and couldn't stand it AT ALL. (Just ask KefkaTaran, or listen to old episodes of EvAv Radio - I used to rail on it quite a bit.) However, after being chided by a bunch of people (IRL and here) I decided to rent it... and shortly after fell in love.

The things that locked it for me was 1.) your abilities after even a couple agility orbs and 2.) the amazing co-op experience. It's just too fun.

I recently traded Crackdown and Blue Dragon for Eternal Sonata, Big Mistake! I really miss Crackdown and as soon as I find a used copy at a price a can afford (still trying to recover from Christmas) I am grabbing it again.

My biggest complaints was you couldn't have multiple saves, because the single player fun comes from growing your character and starting over would be awesome, but I don't want to give up my uber agent. I had kind of been worried that I would miss the super powers in GTA after finishing Crackdown... Saints Row put those fears to rest

The second is that there could have been a bit more varitey and polish in the mission structure... It felt too tacked on and the campaign didn't do the game justice. But yeah, it was a great piece of software and it is too bad there won't be a sequel.

Couldn't you move your save to a memory card, then remove the memory card and start over saving to the HDD?

Then, if you wanted to in the future, delete the HDD save, put in the memory card, and go back to Mr. Uber!

Would that not work?

I need to get this game. It sounds like fun, and I missed out on it.

If you want to do another single player run, you could create another gamertag profile and play on that, thereby keeping your uber character on your primary profile to go back to for any achievements you missed.

If you are looking to do online co-op (that is, if anyone still plays online), this trick would probably not work.

Two options. One, make a new save on a memory unit. Two, just make a second profile.

Yeah, but I fail to see the necessity of either. Coming from the world of PC gaming, I like multiple saves, you should see my BioShock list. Hell, even if I had three slots to save in for separate chars. I COULD use a memory card or an extra profile, but why SHOULD I?

I'm still trying to find the last Agility orb and I have about 50 hidden ones to go. I"ve stopped actively looking for them and just done stuff and if I happen to hear one I'll pursue it.

that seems to be the best way to do it, i've noticed that as you do rooftop races you'll notice hidden orbs scattered about.

I bought crackdown used on a whim when I bought my 360. I heard it was fun. Its probably the one game I keep coming back to every now and then. I spend more time just jumping around and doing stupid shit in the game than actually trying to complete it.

The first time I played Crackdown was at a friend's apartment. I spent about an hour just running, jumping, and trying to kick oncoming cars. It was some of the most fun I've had in years with a video game.

Unfortunately, it was all down hill form there for me. I think my main problem was that the gang members don't respawn (or if they can, I didn't know where the option was). After I beat the first gang, the whole first part of the city is just abandoned pretty much. I would go to the next gang, but it seemed like my skills were never high enough as I was just dying constantly. After that I just lost interest. I would have loved to be able to go back to the first area to kill gang members and build up my skills a little bit.

Agreed. Respwaning gang members would make things a lot easier. I'm on the last area, and I've killed all the bosses except the last one. I'm intentionally not killing him until I max out my skills because I don't know how I can do it once all the gangs are dead.

I was disappointed that the game did not have split screen coop. In fact, I wish all coop games had the split screen. It's hard to convince all my friends to get the exact same games I have.

I just downloaded the demo and played for an hour or so. It seems like it would be amazing co-op as I had a blast just running around by myself. Isn't it a cheap one, like $30 or so?

I agree that it would be fun to be able to respawn the Muertos at higher difficulty now that I beat the game and my agent is badass (grenade gun FTW!). And the only way I ever upped my driving skills was through hidden orbs and running gang members over. The races are frustrating and so are most of those circles you're supposed to jump through. And I ran so many civilians over trying to beat races that it cost me driving skills. I think if I restarted the game it would be on psycho, and I'd build my guy up like crazy (agility, guns, bombs, strength) before tackling the missions.

Once you beat the game there is a option to bring back all of the gangs. You can just play through again and continue to build any skills missed. Remember all of the gangs will return though so I suggest you finish the races (rooftop and car) before you bring back the chaos.

I've really wanted to play Crackdown again for a few weeks now. Amazon had it for $20 for a while, but by the time I decided to buy it, it was back to $30. I'm still kicking myself for that. It's not that much more, but after spending so much money lately, saving every little bit helps. It seems to be only $28 now though, so I might just go ahead and grab it.

I mainly just want to run around and jump from rooftop to rooftop, but maybe I'll actually get around to beating the game this time too.

I hope it's not the DLC that cost money... I got the free ones.

Nah its just a normal option because I never purchased the new content either. You can choose to "turn on gangs" or something worded like that around the time you choose a character. I had the ring of death and sent my 360 away or I would just check really quick for you. Its not hard to find.

Well, the end sequence seems to suggest a sequel -- a sequel where the Agent is a fugitive.

For the frugal gamer (like myself), half.com is your friend! If you've never been there before, it's run by ebay (which is nice because their feedback system is intact), only instead of bidding the sellers set the prices. The nice thing is that the shipping rates are set by the site, so you never pay more than a few bucks. I pretty much buy all my games nowadays through half or Gamefly.

It's one of those games that I go through phases with, and still one of the best in the 360 library. I feel like booting it up myself now, I've still got a lot left to do.

As an addendum, did anyone else find the requisition achievement borked? I got all the enemy vehicles, but nothing happened. Still fun to go about carjacking though.

I buy a decent amount of games through Gamefly, but my preferred method for that is to arrange it so I can get the game shipped on release day and then use the "Keep It" option so it's basically a brand new game for $20-30 cheaper. I thought about getting Crackdown from them, but it didn't have a high availablilty and the price wasn't that much lower. I actually ended up finding a new copy of Crackdown on eBay for around $20 which I snagged after my earlier post.

Thanks for the suggestion though. I'll check it out for future purchases.

Honestly I prefer crack over crackdown. Crackdown is one of those games that I wish I had not purchased. Compared to Saints Row and Ass Creed, this game falls short for me.

My 2007 GoTY and it was virtually ignored by all the end of year stuff. I know more people that keep coming back to it because it is fun.

My criteria for what is good anymore is F-U-N. I'm getting really sick of following the crowd. It seems like most games played anymore is because of group think. I gotta have it because everyone else does, and since everyone else does it must be good. (Mass Effect I'm pointing at you). I don't see much of Halo 3 and Mass Effect anymore on my friends list. However, I still see Crackdown, Geometry Wars, and CoD4 to name a few.

Well, that's because everyone had already finished Mass Effect 3-4 times by the time you got your copy, slow-poke.

Otherwise, I agree.

I finished Crackdown about 2 days after release and traded it in, but a few days ago I saw it in the shop on a "2 games for £20" offer, so I picked it up again along with Just Cause and I'm hooked again.
It might not have a great deal of depth, but it's a lot of fun.

It's all about the orbs, baby.

Story? Pshaw. I mean, I'm a pretty story-centric kind of gamer, but Crackdown is all about the core gameplay, jumping around and finding those orbs.
