View Full Version : Project Offset : Sneak Peak 2
One of the most interesting games in development at the moment I think is "PROJECT OFFSET" an epic fantasy FPS. They've just release another sneak peak video showing off thier amazing graphics engine.
Head to their website (http://www.projectoffset.com/downloads.html) and check it out - looks very promising.
a|A you're not intimately associated with this game are you? If I had a cool project like that you can bet I'd post on ea. If so I'd like to know a little bit more about the game other than the graphics (which are indeed pretty). The last action game I've played with cool melee combat was Rune and it seems ripe for an update.

what an odd name for a fantasy FPS. i'd have pictured a financial turn-based game or something...
gfx look sweet.

Nope!
Not associated with this game in any way-shape-or form. I just thought it looked like an interesting project. The lighting and shadow work in the first sneak peak is what got my attention.
Read through the game info page , there's a bit of information on the game and gameplay types there.
Rune was a great little game, I enjoy anything that has a nice slant on norse mythology.

Looks nice.
Sounds a bit like the 'everything to everyone' promises Horizons made.
Accepting donations to pay for webspace is a bad sign.

Ambition is nice, but for three people, that game design page is ridiculous. It'd be a little ridiculous for 20 people.

These guys were formerly associated with S2 Games, of Savage fame.
Although information is limited, I believe the team is currently restricted in size because they are still looking for financial backing on the project, it is essentially the brainchild of the current designers.
I really enjoyed Savage, and it looks like this is shaping up nicely, hope they don't have much trouble with funding and production.
Additionally, Project Offset is a 'working' title.

Wasn't Savage built by a team of 7 or something else extremely small? I think at this point in the games lifecycle, having only a few people is quite good, lets them stay focused and set up an agenda, and prevents too much money being spent month to month.

umm dude... they said specificlly that they are only 3 people. The info is actually not limited at all ;-)

I found this video today and was about to do another post but thought to search the term Offset first... Lucky me eh... Three people for whats on the game design page is very small... I mean the sneek peaks and videos look freaking amazing and almost can't believe it's there own engine... I'm sure if word got out and they shopped it around enough, granted if it can hook into the next gen consoles as well, it could be pushed is the slightly cheaper Unreal 3 engine... Only reason they would end up cheaper is cause of Unreal's already big name... And any regards to being a fully functional ungine in this gen could generate them enough bucks to get out of their small apt and get them a nice sized office and some crew to help get some meat on them bones... Sadly I think the Elder Scrolls games are already the first fantasy based FPS... Although I am really excited about what I saw...
