The title says it all. The figures are from the National Entertainment Collectibles Association (http://www.necaonline.com/) and show some pretty impressive detail.

The first wave in an ongoing line of action figures, the first assortment includes main character Marcus Fenix, Augustus Cole, and the villainous Locust Drone. Featuring an unprecedented amount of detail, extensive articulation, and game-accurate accessories, the Gears of War Action Figures will appeal to the most dedicated Gears of War players, as well as action figure collectors in general.
Since its Fall 2006 debut , Gears of War has broken sales records on the Microsoft Xbox 360™, selling more than 4 million copies worldwide, and has received numerous awards including GameSpot’s “Game of the Year” and the Interactive Achievement Awards’ “Overall Game of the Year.” The game thrusts players into humankind’s epic battle for survival against the Locust Horde, a nightmarish race of creatures that surface from the bowels of the planet. The story unfolds as a ragtag group of soldiers use every last ounce of strength to survive the onslaught from the forces of evil, which begins on the historic Emergence Day.
Better late than never or just in time for Gears 2?

If Gears 2 isn't coming out soon, I would question the timing as being too late for Gears 1 and too early for Gears 2.
Of course, there are people paid to know more about that than I do, so...who knows.

When I see grown men looking at action figures I think of the 40yr old virgin. There is a reason why he was a virgin...

Hey, I resemble that remark! :)
However, I am not a virgin and am not 40yrs old. I am married, however, but I digress. I am one of those geeks that has THAT 'shelf'. The 40yr Old Virgin shelf full of geeky figures and dioramas. Looks like I will need to clear off some more shelf space!

I can have my very own pocket roid user! Does he have the patented ham-fists? Does he have the inability to talk and run at the same time?

Gears 2.
Its the damn worst kept secret anyway.
It would take longer than 9 months (which is all you'd get out of a year between games, 'cause you'd have to test/manufacture) to detox and come up with new ideas and prototype them out.
I seriously doubt that we'll see a "Gears 2" in 08. A new game in a year? Doubtful. If we see anything "new" out of Gears, it would have to be "Gears 1.5 Super Deluxe Expansion Edition Director's Cut".

Odd thing - normally I am into collecting the figures of games I am playing and have fun with, but after COD4, I now kinda want to collect the different fire arms I got to use in that game.

I think they are going to make a Super edition with all of the maps and extra chapters. I would be very suprised to see Gears2 this year. If it does come out this year I dont think it will be as good.

Considering the PC version has a rather nasty bug that eats your saved games, and hasn't been patched since the game came out, action figures are moot.
Between UT3 and GoW PC, I've kind of knocked Epic off of my AAA title developers list. The saved game bug is well documented on their forums, and not one person from Epic has ever commented on it to either confirm it, or say if/when a fix was coming.
How can a company like Epic screw up saved games on a PC? I guess we can see why they want to build a new building just for their own QA. It's obvious the QA at MS and Midway is piss poor when it comes to PC games.

ouch... I was seriously thinking about picking up Gears this weekend (I wanna fight the Brumak, and of course I think I'll have much more immersive time on PC, where I won't be fighting the controls so much... even though I do love the game on the 360). What's the deal with the saved game bug?

I will gladly pony up my cash for the Cole Train figure, but only if it has a button that makes him yell "WOO!"

Well it goes like this. You play the game, shut if off, come back later and your save games are all gone, and none of the missions are unlocked.
If you go to their official forums you'll see many many posts about it, and not one post from anyone at Epic regarding the bug.
It ate my save games enough that I never finished ACT1 before selling it for a fraction of what I paid for it.

Man, NECA pretty much owns the action figure racket right now. God of War, CastleVania, Resident Evil, and now Gears.
Does anyone remember McFarlane Toys?

Well, glad EvilAvatar.com could fix that for ya.
Thanks Mark.

NIIIIICE!
Also, for all the talk about how buggy PC Gears is, I've yet to encounter any bugs. My computer is a couple of years old and stutters a little on the max settings compared to some, but that's to be expected. I think it's a great addition to the series and it's neat to have it attach its achievements to my 360 Live account.

I loved Gears for the 360. It's one of my favorite multiplayer games on the system. I'm pretty stoked on these figures. And for the inevitable sequel. It would be pretty sweet if it did ship this year, though you'd think that they'd be talking about it if that was the case.

Hilarious movie. Of course, every guy I know into collecting figures is also married and has kids, so from my (limited) data sample, action figure collecting by adults leads to marriage. Watch out!
