Stuart Roch, Executive Producer of Treyarch, has posted details of various job openings at Treyarch in his blog. (http://productionblog.typepad.com)
We’re looking for experienced, passionate game developers to fill a variety of spots we have open for our next couple of projects. Designers, producers, programmers, artists, and animators – we're looking for ‘em all.
If you have console experience and big selling, critical hit franchises like Spider-Man and Call of Duty sound interesting, drop our recruiters a line (http://www.activision.com/en_US/old_browser/old_browser.html) and look into coming aboard. Put "Treyarch" in the box as your keyword search.
Cool. These are the guys behind Spider-Man 1 & 2, Tony Hawk as well as Die By The Sword to just name a few titles

Any idea which town/state/country their studios are located? I'm guessing it's not Tucson.

Think they would take an experienced gamer with no skills to speak of?

Die by the Sword? You mean that sweet game that forces you to install DirectX 2, which in turn forces you to reinstall windows?

I remember Die by The Sword.
Not for lack of trying, mind you...
Probably not one you'd want to put on your Gaming Career Resume.

They’re making CoD the Big Red One. CoD is normally made by Infinity Ward. Here’s their website if you’d like to know where they’re located and whatnot (California).

Huh. I guess I am in the minority then. It had some quirks but I thought it was still fun.

Spider-man 2 was great... I wish there had been random super-villain attacks and other stuff to fill the time at the end of the game, but still... great fun.

Treyarch did Spider-Man 2, but not Spider-Man 1 or the Tony Hawk series. Neversoft did those.

Actually, they did Spider-Man: The Movie and Spider-Man: The Movie 2. They did not do the preceding Spider-Man game that preceded those. But they did port it and some Tony Hawk games.

Why? How is this news worthy at all?
Possibly because it's a job opening within the game industry and this might be a gaming news site. Also, people that like games or play games enough to visit these sites might be in or desire to be in the gaming industry.
These are all outlandish theories which I'm sure could be discredited by a monkey wearing cheeto bags as gloves. I've been proven wrong before by those hairy bastards.

With the next gen ramping up, they're going to be hiring even more. I don't get why this is important, I guess.

I agree with Draft -- all you really need to do is look at a site like gamasutra to see how many companies are hiring. This isn't really "news", IMHO.

The biggest thing I remember about Die by the Sword was having to literally sand the discs to make them work as they were so badly made. And that in the end, the game was better off on horrible unplayable discs anyway.

Proven wrong again, congrats.
I don't remember if they did Die by the Sword for PC, but they did port "it" to Dreamcast and called it "Draconus: Kult of the Wyrm". They also ported the first Tony Hawk's Pro Skater to Dreamcast.
They're a great team with a lot of talented people.
Yes they're in Santa Monica, CA. They're actually 3 buildings away from their parent company Activision, 1 building away from Luxoflux (True Crime).
