When you create one of the best RPG franchises ever made, and move MMO's into a whole new level of commercial success, you can say that.

I wish this guy the best in all his endeavors. Got to speak to him briefly at the E3, he's a very nice, personable guy. Cannot thank him enough for the countless hours of fun I've spent on the Ultimas since the beginning of the 80's. And Tabula Rasa is definitely worth looking at. And Garriot is definitely
front page news worthy :)

His dad was an astronaut? Cool.
He is probably one of the most important people in games, a founding father, so he is Front Page worthy.

Semi-topical.
More on Owen Garriot, for those who are interested.

That's pretty wild, he flew on a SaturnV to Skylab, and on Columbia... That's a pretty varied space career.

I wonder if Garriot gave the interview in his medieval frocky attire. :)

man as much as id like to i just cant take this guy seriously
Garriott is an *extremely* important figure in games history (RPGs & MMORPGs), but today he's pretty much irrelevant as far as gaming goes. I don't think his heart's in games anymore...he just does it to make some bucks to indulge in his expensive hobbies. Tabula Rasa is a waste of time that's been cooking too long.

I passed by his booth at the E3 and he was talking to a bunch of young folks about Tabula Rasa, before I had a chance to chat him up. He was extremely enthusiastic about the game and knew far too many details and game mechanics for his heart not to be in games anymore - he handled all the "what ifs" and "how abouts" adeptly, and all this without sounding like a salesman either. I'd have to say he still has a thing for games...

its kinda funny, when i was a little kid... like 12... i played uo and all the old ultima games... 1 being my favorite
I always saw garriott as one of my idols even though I didnt know all too much about him
but now when i look at him and think of his get up and his speal i just get put off
Have I become jaded in my latter years? (if you wanna call 18 latter... sorry in advance to all you OLD folk out there)
