The Hollywood Reporter (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/film/news/e3i1f048e311710f2fb395ecaf034146a09) got a chance to talk to Uwe Boll about the pathetic $3M opening weekend for the $70M project In the Name of the King, based (loosely, I assume) on the game Dungeon Siege. Evidently, Boll will be forced to focus on much smaller projects, much to the dismay of his thousands of "fans" around the globe.

Despite a number of critical and commercial drubbings, Boll has been able to finance bigger budget films through German tax shelter funds. But "King" marked the last film to be bankrolled by his fund, which, like all similar tax shelters, has been banned in Germany.

Boll will now have to finance films the old-fashioned way -- with presales. Given the director's record, that could prove difficult. Is it bad that I smiled the entire time I was writing this up? I couldn't help myself.

Aww...well, it's sort of sad...he helped bolster our film industry here in BC...crappy movies still add money to our economy ;)

Man, don't you wish you could fail as much as this guy and still get paid to make movies?

I keep trying to figure out why people continued to give him the rights to create these movies after the first couple he did. I guess nobody else was knocking and they were desperate for cash and didn't care how their franchises was portrayed.

*Sigh of relief* I am now able to look at Uwe Boll's video game movies like I look at the Joel Schumacher Batman films...they never really happened.

Don't blame Uwe. Who and what he is has been long established at this point. Blame any developer or publisher that would ever let their IP be touched by him.

I wonder if he'll still try to do the effects-heavy sci-fi, fantasy, and horror stuff with even worse effects, or if he'll actually try to do some character- or plot-driven stuff that relies more on the comparatively cheap writing and acting.

Or if he'll just direct music videos for German alternative bands.

I bet he has another project up and raping a video game property in no time.

So German taxpayers no longer have the privilege of footing the bill for Boll's "cinematic experiences?"

I thought I felt a collective wave of relief in the Force...like an entire nation, sighing at once.

When I first read this the only thing I could think of was this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOEq-ImGWJ0).

Because, y'know, the only thing better than an Uwe Boll movie is an Uwe Boll movie with crappy production values.

For his next ring bout, have him fight against his investors. Not one at a time, mind you. All of them at once.

Well, his prior investors would probably shake his hand and buy him a drink. They all got to write off multi-million dollar movies.

Low-budget films based on games, huh?

And the Trogdor (http://www.homestarrunner.com/filmstyle.html) comes in the night!

No one mentioned if In the Name of the King was any good...what's the scoop on this flick? No Uwe bashing, just an un-biased review of the movie please...if that's possible.

It's a Boll flick. He doesn't make good movies.

Well, I saw it. I'll admit being a fan of his ... he makes the best comedies I've ever seen. Honestly, I like bad movies, and he makes some of the worst.

With that said, this movie was as bad, if not worse than his recent outtings. King Burt slept through this movie, and Matthew Lillard was just plain AWFUL.

The sad thing is that Jason Statham really, really tried in this one. He was trying to deliver his lines properly, and gave his all in the action scenes.

I'm not much of a movie reviewer, but I'll just say that this is a typical Boll movie.

Anyone seen Seed? Supposedly its a pretty good flick, made by Uwe Boll. Apparently if its not based on a video game it has a chance.

Please stop making movies Mr Boll. You have destroyed so much, what is it you have actually created? (and if the adapt the game from which this quote comes into a movie, expect to wake up in the middle of the night with your scrotum in your mouth)

This means no more big name actors in his garbage movies. Honestly, how could the production value drop?
