More fuel for the Sony fire?

Lik-Sang.com was today informed that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Limited and Sony Computer Entertainment Inc commenced legal actions against Lik-Sang.com in the High Court of Hong Kong for selling PSP consoles.

Sony further claims copyright infringement and damages by mirroring the freely available PSP manual on the news section of Lik-Sang.com during early June. Sony UK warned Lik-Sang.com at June 14 to take legal actions, should the manual and any hypertext links to Sony's web site not be removed. Lik-Sang.com complied with Sony's request to remove the manual immediately.

curse those budding entrepreneurs for linking to a corporate website..

if sony got off their high horse they'd realise this is very good publicity, y'know, supporting users.. customers.. the paying public.

Eh, Lik-Sang is in the piracy-enablement business. They know it, we know it, Sony knows it, lets see if the Hong Kong high court knows it, and wants to do something about it. They just might, considering China's recents advances in the anti-piracy arena.

Suing their retailers, that's a bold step.

"OMFG THEY SOLD OUR PRODUCT! SUE THEIR ASSES OFF!"

That's the Sony way.

Uhm, what company does'nt fall into that group?

Apple, Microsoft, Google?

Do they sell MOD CHIPS, Pirate software?

I think SONY's case regarding selling out of region will not be enforced by the HK courts. Several cases before have always allowed vendors to sell stock they own to whom ever they want. FYI my experinces with Lik-Sang have always been positive. Had a few things not work as advertised and they took them back and refunded my money. Really not everybody in China is a bad guy!

I really hope this isn't anything too big for lik-sang in the end, it's where I get all my games, I haven't bought a single game locally in over a year (live in Aus). Lik-sang is both cheaper and quicker for me and I'm stacking up a nice lot of reward points for free games/consoles in the future.

Does anybody have any idea how Sony benefits from this? I mean, what percentage of gamers in Europe have or plan to import a PSP. I'd wager a bet that's it's pretty damn small. Now by stopping this small percentage of early adopters from buying your product what the hell do you accomplish Sony? Hell, people have been importing Japanese consoles since the days of the NES and nobody seemed to give a shit until now. Its dumb moves like this that make me want to boycott all Sony products.

That's complete bullshit. Lik-sang is one of the few companies that just support importing, and not piracy. They don't sell ways to circumvent copy protection, just region locking. They don't sell GBA flash carts either

I don't know if they do now or not, but they did. That was the first place I looked for one when I was interested in getting one. I passed, but that was the place to go if you were looking for a flash card.

Aye, as I understand it they used to sell flashcarts until Nintendo sued them :P
And they used to sell modchips until sony sued them :P

But they've really been clean for quite some time now
