Telltale Games talked about wanting to develop for the Nintendo Wii a long time ago. And a point-and-click adventure like Sam & Max would work great on the Wii. Now, a German press release from JoWood studios (http://www.nintendic.com/news/1661) announcing Agatha Christie contains the following nugget of info buried somewhere near the bottom.

“One of the next projects: Sam & Max. The Adventure of the year, as chosen by the readers of the German ‘PC Games’ (2/2008 issue), Sam & Max will soon be hunting criminals on the Nintendo Wii.”Google translation of the press release can be found here (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fcorporate.jowood.com%2Fco ntent%2Fview%2F117%2F1%2Flang%2Cde%2F&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8)

Didn't this rumor already circulate once before, and get flatly denied by Telltale?

Games like Sam & Max and Zack and Wiki might actually pull me more towards the Wii. No frantic wiimote wiggling. Just relaxed adventuring.

It can also be played by just about everyone, given that it's system specs are low enough that anything inside of the past like, 7 years should be able to run it. It's hardly bleeding edge software. If you can post to this forum, chances are, your box can run it.

If it's in a press release, is it really a rumor?

For the ability to play it on my couch.

Give me more from Cinq. I want a follow-up in the vein of Hotel Dusk.

Or a portable version of Sam & Max.

If it's in a press release, is it really a rumor?Multiple reasons. The press release wasn't about Sam & Max, so we don't have any official confirmation of the game. Also, it was a German-press only press release. Until we get official word from the company in English that the game is coming, it should be considered rumor, or at the very least, "unconfirmed".

Or a portable version of Sam & Max.I'm really looking forward to King Story (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Story) from Cinq and Town Factory (which, oddly enough, looks an awful lot like Square's FFCC: Young King and the Promised Land (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_Crystal_Chronicles:_The_Young_King_a nd_the_Promised_Land)).

Lucas Arts should release all of their 'point-and-click' quest games for the Wii, like DAY OF THE-effin' TENTACLE. The Wiimote would be a nice replacement for the mouse in those gems, and they would probably sell like hotcakes (or teacakes) on the Virtual Console store at $5 a pop.

Nice idea, but until Nintendo does something about the anemica 512MB internal memory, there's no chance it'll happen. While DoTT might fit, others wouldn't, without a drastic reduction in content.

Ouch, I didn't even think of that. But still, Sierra Games could probably re-release like, those Gabriel Knights and Phatasmagorias, and like all of the King's Quests for VC.

Shit-- a new King's Quest for the Wii would rock ass, now that I dream of it.

Actually, I don't think that would really be a problem. Most of the old scumm games had floppy's version that took most of the voice overs out. The CD versions had full speech and where a lot larger, but that audio was all uncompressed. Put some modern compression on there and they could be easily shrunk to fit in the wiiware limit of 40mb.

Just put the definitive Lucasarts collection on a disc. Put everything from Maniac Mansion to Grim Fandango on a DVD and we'll gobble it up.

They put most of it in boxsets. Fetches for about 80-200 dollars on Ebay.

Why would anyone play old LucasArts games on anything other than a PC? I can understand about the new Sam & Max but there's a bloody ScummVM for everything, from the PSP to OSX. Do you really want to aim at that 2x2 pixel object with the shaky Wiimote?

White, Red, or Blue? We've got the white on tap at work, and the red and blue by the bottle. I think the blue is like 10.5% by volume. Freaking hops wine.

The red. Now I'm a man who can hold his alcohol but two of the red and I'm starting to feel it.

I had the red when in Brussels last year. Absolutely delicious. I've had nothing but trouble finding the stuff back in Australia though.

Yeah, Nintendo are going to do something about that memory next generation. No sense moaning about it now. DoTT and Sam&Max would easily fit.. do some OGG compression on the audio and DoTT comes down to 99MB here ..78MB for Sam&Max. Heck, without any special compression Full Throttle is only 490MB. I'm sure there's ways that could be scrunched-down a fair bit.

So there's plenty of good Scumm or Scumm-like titles that could run on the Wii. I'd be willing to bet they'd all fit into that RAM (individually) with some modern video and audio compression applied. ..For some reason I imagine Napoleon Dynamite saying how awesome that would be. :D
