Electronic Arts has released (http://www.eagames.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/editorial.jsp?src=mod_editor) the Beta version of the Battlefield 2 editing tools.

EA and DICE are pleased to announce that today, after two weeks of Closed Beta testing, we are releasing the first public version of the Battlefield 2 editor! Over the last couple of days you've probably seen some of the outstanding work that the Closed Beta teams have created using the tools, and now we're giving everyone else the chance to join the fun. Keep in mind that we are considering this release "Beta" software, so it’s still a little rough around the edges, though we’ve worked out many of the kinks. Also, though most core functionality is editable as of this release, there are several more advanced areas of the tools that are still being worked on. One example of of a tool to be delivered in a future update is the Single Player Editor.Mirrors:

Had to double check that. They're talking about the mod tools, though I could have sworn they were talking about the full game. (Don't get me wrong, I'm having a blast with the game, though the bugs -- particularly the "sound-cuts-out" bug -- are beginning to detract from the experience.)

One of the coolest new features I've seen in this mod editor is something left out of most other mod editors: The ability to add your own bugs and glitches to the game! For example with a single click of the mouse the modder can add hotpoints to the map where people will randomly crash back to their desktop. You can make it so when they try to fire their weapons it randomly clips out their sound. The modder can also add even more powerful bugs such as accidently deleting other mods while installing yours or corrupting game files due to your mod's "bugs" (which we all know were intentional anyway). This is BY FAR the most innovative feature of ANY modding program out there.
Much congratulations goes to both DICE and EA for delivering yet ANOTHER oustandingly unique and premature product!

Greatly Overwhelmed,

I would call you an idiot, but your signature did it for me.

I'm not an idiot.
I'm a literate writer who is a lover of good sarcasm.

And thanks for the kind words on the signature. ;) Even though you called me an idiot. *grumbles*

True, that was unfair of me, but the sig seemed pretty ignorant considering what we DON'T know about any of those consoles yet. There's a chance the nRev could be the loaded baked potato at Chili's, after all.

I haven't played with the BF2 editor yet, is it really as bad as you say?
