N4G (http://www.n4g.com) has the details:
Finally! After more than 3 years in development, Project Revolution demo is now downloadable. This demo allows you to play Starcraft Terran race in 3D using the Warcraft III Engine. You must have the Starcraft: Brood War and Warcraft III: Frozen Throne CDs installed and updated with the latest patches (All English-version) and load the CDs on your CD-Drive when asked by the installer in order to play this demo. Installation won't work on non-English versions of the Game CDs. No Mac installer at this time. Windows Vista is not supported.
Gonna give this a go when at home!

I'd all but given up on this mod, and it's good to see it coming together. It gives me some hope for Black Mesa. I'm trying this out ASAP.

Oh, and download it here (http://www.moddb.com/mods/3704/project-revolution/downloads).

I heard rumours that black mesa will get released with the next "orange box". Don't know if these rumours merrit any truth though.

Bitching about free mods not coming out when you want them to is about the most annoying thing on gaming websites...

Here's an idea: Get some skills and volunteer to help finish them!

For some reason I think Blizzard might squish this... I wonder if they have permission from them?

At the same time, don't promise what you can't deliever. Don't put your game into the spotlight just to pull it away. Wait until you have something.

i think as long as they require legit copies of ft, sc.. and the core gameplay isn't changed? it's on the safe side. It's a fine teaser for SC2, without really being SC2 itself.. Gonna wait until all races are in, tho, and i hope they apply the 3d to the story mode..

Bah... why Brood Wars and not just Starcraft? I never owned Brood Wars.

Bah.

Never owned brood wars? If you like starcraft at all, you need to remedy this. It's very much worth it.

Looks exactly the same as the original version in the video, so I don't really see the point. Maybe it'll look better in higher res.

I couldnt tell the difference in the video, but look at the pictures, you can notice its in 3D.

Its actually pretty good that they can convert it to 3D without making it look crap - thats not always easy.

So, a 'mod' to convert a 2d game to 3d?

Nice, but whats the point really? Whether its 3D or not, you'll still play it from a top-down perspective.

I don't see why they would. It's free, and is just like any other mod for any other PC game out there. Plus, in order to use it, you have to purchase not only SC and its expansion, but WCIII and its expansion. Granted all together that's only 60 bucks, but it's still potential revenue for Blizzard. And they don't even have to dedicate any resources to the project.

I was never good enough at the game to invest in the expansion.

Great, I must have games that I threw away in a fit of rage the LAST time I was dumb enough to try StarCraft.

Also, I thought Blizzard sent these guys a cease and desist. Or am I thinking of the Halo project for Generals?
