View Full Version : DMC 4 Xbox 360 Bundle Announced (Japan Only)

Silicon Era (http://www.siliconera.com/2007/12/25/capcom-has-a-devil-may-cry-4-xbox-360-bundle-too/) is reporting that CAPCOM and Microsoft have teamed up to release a Devil May Cry 4 Xbox 360 bundle - to be launched day and date with the recently announced PS3 BD bundle.

Sony isn’t the only system in town with a Devil May Cry 4 bundle. The same day the Devil May Cry 4 Premium BD Pack comes out, Microsoft and Capcom are releasing the Xbox 360 Devil May Cry 4 Premium Pack. The 37,800 yen ($331) package contains an Xbox 360 with a 20 GB hard drive, Devil May Cry 4, wireless controller, HD AV Terminal D cable, LAN cable and a media remote. Notice the headset, a staple in the North American Pro package, is typically not part of the new Xbox 360 bundles in Japan.
No news of a North American or European bundle, but I'd wager it's unlikely.

Because it's relevant to the continuing efforts of MS to win Japanese market share (and failing anyway)? Whereas a Sony Japanese bundle is probably relevant to er... the norm for the last 10 years?

When did companies start making special hardware bundles for multiplatform games? I thought this was reserved for exclusive games only.

I got a headset in my standard pro bundle from Japan back in Jan 06.

Friend got one in the Japanese Pro Forza/Viva Pinata bundle last week, so as far as I know this is the first pack not to have one. Weird.

Is DMC that big of a deal in Japan? I've played and dug all three games in the series, though I couldn't tell you fuck all for plot as they damn near broke my "Wacky Japometer" with the anime insipired melodrama.

The PS3 bundle has been advertised for months already in Japan. The 360 one being announced is actual "new" news. I don't know if EvilAv did have a news post about the original PS3 bundle back when it was announced. If they didn't then I guess you have a small point. Regardless, due to the extremely sorry state of the 360 in Japan, any news regarding MS, or 3rd parties, attempting to promote the system is bigger news than the equivalent action by Sony or 3rd parties for the PS3. Of course, I would also say that the reverse applies to the US market.

I never understood the following of this game either. Gamerankings has the original DMC3 sitting at 84% and DMC2 at 73%.

I'll rent the game but I can't see any OMFG I have to buy it type of situation.

DMC2 is meant to be the turd of the series.

Personally, I played 1 just a little but didn't get far. I am pretty interested in playing the demo of 4 once it gets released. The 1UP guys are pretty high on what they've played of it so far.

I don't think DMC is as big a deal in Japan as it is in the West. In the Japanese versions, the voice acting and text is in English. As you can probably guess, the DMC games have always been very import friendly.

I think DMC represents the old school games the PS2 got big on. The new consoles have sorely lacked big Japanese household names like MGS, FF, Megaman, etc. DMC might be seen as a title which reflects that and tries to profit from it.

I'm so looking forward to this. I loved the first and third one. 3 Especially. It might be wacky, but that's the whole point. I like wacky Japanese shit and this has great gameplay to booth. And it's Capcom, so it does have a certain magic and polish I find lacking in most games.

DMC3 will sell the most copies in the US, and the most copies on the 360 version. By far. Capcom is the only Japanese company to really get the concept of multiplatform these days.

I enjoyed DMC3 more than Ninja Gaiden, and before anyone calls me out yes I did finish Ninja Gaiden, I played Sigma (which is apparently slightly harder than Black) all the way through on normal and almost all the way through on Hard.

I liked the variety of combat in DMC more, and the cutscenes were cooler.

Actually, I think MS has been having a lot of trouble getting Japanese gamers to pay attention to the 360 version of cross platform titles, or even knowing that the option exists. A perceived PS3 exclusive is just as good as an actual PS3 exclusive. So a bundle like this is just another way to get the 360 version in the eyes of gamers.

Yeah but a Japanese gamer will hardly pick the 360 bundle if the PS3 bundle is within sight. I think Microsoft should have spent money on big cardboard cutouts of Dante saying "Play me on Xbox 360". :)
