The Major (http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/12/10/video-marketplace-now-available-in-more-regions.aspx) is reporting that the popular Xbox Live Video Marketplace has now gone..uh...live in 5 new regions.Earlier today, the Video Marketplace went live in five more Xbox LIVE regions: Canada, UK, Ireland, France and Germany. If you are in one of these regions, be sure head over to the Video Marketplace section of your Xbox 360 dashboard to check out the selection of SD and HD content that is now available on demand.

If they could make this content transferable to the Zune I'd be all over it.

Did Microsoft do away with allowing multiple accounts to gain access to other regions? If the answer is no, can you add points to other regions for content?

They don't seem to care for free content but apparently there is a problem for paid content.

Oh look, somebody finally throws Canada a bone.

I'd like to know why this wasn't in Canada in the first place

I heard, somewhere, that there were licensing issues with the CRTC. Anyone know if this is true or can elaborate?

Oh, and Germany? Really? I'm surprised it's allowed! Will Tom Cruise movies be available?

300 points for older movies is an okay price. 440 points for more recent movies in SD is ok...I guess. 660 points for HD versions of newer movies? Not so much.

Bah. I tried using it tonight and every time I try downloading a preview, I get the "CANNOT FIND STORAGE DEVICE" message. Trackzero seems to be having the same problem. Oh well.

Canada one is janked right now, can't download/preview anything, says "cannot find storage device", Spigot's getting the same error.

Edit: Damn you Brock! Posting at the same time as me.

HD was 550 points, SD was 450 when i was checking movies. In Canada at least.

Edit: And since you're in the same country as me, that's just weird.

Licensing. Different companies have the distribution rights here in Canada (even if it's just a studios Canadian branch), things need to be re-signed, etc. But it shouldn't have taken this long, for sure.

Ya Canada store is broken. Also, take note which LANGUAGE you download. Some versions are French, some are English.

This may simply be a case of me not remembering the actual prices, although I could have sworn the HD version of 300 exceeded 600 points.

It depends, sometimes they forget to tag something to be region locked.

You can tell now with the new update if it's got a .... fuck, crossed out circle sign..... the fucking Ghostbusters sign on it. ;)

Perhaps it depends on the title. I know Babylon 5: The Lost Chapters HD was 550.

I'd like some of your socialism in my peanut butter down here. I have issues with our health care and retirement systems.

A bitter lament for another thread, perhaps...

Did you ever see the movie Canadian Bacon? Well, there's your answer. ;)

Gus: These Canadians suffer from a serious inferiority complex. That's why they built this: The Canadian National Tower! World's largest free-standing structure!

Edwin S. Simon, NBS News Anchor: It is the height of six American football fields, or five Canadian football fields. As if Canadian football really counts.

Edwin S. Simon, NBS News Anchor: Like maple syrup, Canada's evil oozes over the United States.

Boomer: There's a time to think, and a time to act. And this, gentlemen, is no time to think.

300pts for the older movies isn't so bad. I see 580pts for a lot of the HD ones, though. In perspective, it's $7.75 for 500pts. That's pretty steep.. is there that much of an extra cost on renting HD movies from rental stores?

The more I think about it, the more it seems on par with normal rental stores.

It's on par with new releases here...new SD releases.

No place that rents HD material at all, and SD stuff is ridiculously priced.

The one download I bought still won't start. Not one preview I selected would stream. It's still broken.

I was loath to rekindle this thread but...

Canadian Video Marketplace is still busted for me. I'm getting a Media rights usage error. Xbox support was no help, but Xbox.com has a huge thread over there about Canadian customer all having the same problem.

http://forums.xbox.com/17235798/ShowPost.aspx

One interesting note, most of the problems are occurring with Rogers as their Cable ISP.

I haven't tried to do much with the video marketplace since it launched up here but I'd be curious to see if it's working yet. I'm on Bell for my ISP, so maybe it is a Rogers issue.

Wasn't there some kind of issue with XBL and Rogers last year or so? I recall (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,14990964) there being some kind of wonkiness happening with people using the 360 over Rogers internet.

(Wow. Just do a search for Xbox Live and Rogers internet and prepare to cry.)
