Computerandvideogames.com (http://www.computerandvideogames.com) have some Nintendo Revolution tech demo screenshots which have been leaked.

Some of us are just back from our annual summer hols here at C&VG and lo and behold we come in on a Monday morning and it's like we've never been away.

Somehow it's reassuring to know that Revolution imagery continues to leak out like urine from a rusty bucket. Ahem, anyway these latest purported pics are supposed to have come from Revolution tech demos emanating out of Japan and were tracked down by dauntless French hacks at jeuxvideo.com. We can't confirm or deny whether they're true either way, and of course if we asked them, Nintendo would issue its standard "we don't comment on rumour and speculation".

Go check out the screenshots over at Computerandvideogames.com (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/r/?page=http://www.computerandvideogames.com/news/news_story.php(que)id=122639).

Those screenshots look amazing!

Ahh, preemptive journalism. You gotta love it.

Those screenshots do look pretty fucking nice. And I would hope the Revolution is capable of graphics similar to that.

But I am skeptical. The pics just don't look very "Nintendo-ish" nor do they appear to have originated from Japan.

Good find, and shame on CVG for suggesting they were Reveolution-related.

All those images lacked a certain... coherancy to suggest they call came from the same tech demo.

The second comment under their own article is someone busting it wide open. Never been to ComputerandVideoGames.com, but I'm skeptical about any future visits.

And nothing continues to leak from Nintendo. Every leak about the Revolution has been wrong, but hey, why stop reporting them? (not talking about Evil Avatar, talking about the site that did the innitial reporting). Maybe places should start to do the smallest amount of fact checking before they post it as news.

nintendo will never leak anything until they themselves want it to be leaked, they are too good at keeping secrets. :-(

Never liked them.

Hot damn! Look at what they say we're doing. That's pretty sweet. Now I WONDER if we CAN do that... Hmm. Oh yeah... We're going for the "buy our old games" = Revolutionary approach. My bad, I keep forgetting.

Poor Nintendo. They are so out in the cold on this one.

Next gen hardware should be interesting for Nintendo. Mario, for example, has a minimalist aesthetic. You can't make Mario all detailed and photo-realistic like a Gears of War model, and you can't make the world that way either. So what do they do? The world is essentially just geometric shapes, and adding more raw polygons isn't going to make it look any better than Mario Sunshine.

I'm interested in how they'll proceed.

As if a Nintendo anything wouldn't have Mario, Link and Donkey Kong plastered all over it.

To be honest they are just continuing succesful franchises like every other company with any business sense would do. It doesn't mean they don't innovate or at least promote a bit of innovation for developers creating games for their consoles.

I don't care what anyone says, I lived through this with CD-i, Jaguar, Atari, 3DO, SNK and Sega. I know the warning signs.

Nintendo is on their way out.

lol, CVG fucking busted.

There is WAY too much of this kind of loose "jounalism" surrounding the games industry. Sites like CVG, Spong, and others generate lies like Hershey generates candy bars.

So the warning sign would be that your company isn't making money. I think lack of fundage is something Nintendo doesn't worry about. Yamauchi swims in his money bin, located deep underneath the streets of Kyoto, laughing at the suckers that sell hardware for a loss.

A statement that is way, way, way, off topic but it must be said. Robocop is not about "shooting cops".

Based on past experience with Nintendo, we shouldn't expect this kind of photo-realism from them. That said, I would expect it from Xbox360 or the PS3.

I like how a forum poster on a medium-sized gaming site debunked their story in a couple hours. And they want me to *pay* for the privilege of reading that shite?

Let me ask you this, how much money has pokemon generated for nintendo? with billions of fans. 40 bucks a game, that is alot of money, then there is toys and clothes and even the diffrent television shows. Since pokemon games each have diffrent versions of the main game, people sometimes buy all the copies, i know people that do that. So yes, you are right about nintendo having money.

Not to toot our own horns or anything Nessus, but it was more like a couple of minutes :). It went something like this-

Me: whoa, sweet screenshots. Waiiiiiiiiiit, I don't buy it...
Coworker: yeah-wait, I've seen that blue girl before.... that's a Brazil render!
Me: wait, yeah, motherfucker that car does look like a Brazil render..
<30 seconds on Brazil's website......>
Me + Coworker: POOOOOned!!!!!!

Better animation and environments, perhaps? That's what they're focusing on in Twilight Princess, anyway.

I'm sorry you mistook my meaning. I didn't mean actually shooting cops like it was a good thing I was speaking more along the lines of action movies neglect of substance. And if you think about it Robocop was about shooting cops, or atleast a cop. Though I also think that it is interesting to use that quote on the Revolution, its been awhile since I saw the movie but wasn't it used to advirtise a game about the destruction of the world? I could be mistaken.

Coworker: yeah-wait, I've seen that blue girl before.... that's a Brazil render!

Hah! That's exactly what I just noticed while looking at them: I recognized the Blue Girl from the Brazil gallery, and she's been there for I'd say at least a couple years (and I remember her in particular because that's a very cool style for a 3d render).

However I will say I didn't realize that made all those fake, because the blue girl one wasn't in the index I saw for the article, but did come up when I used the Previous/Next buttons, and I thought it was just misplaced, and perhaps they had a seperate article on Brazil or something.

I have to say that the render of the women was probably the most photorealistic render I've seen. It seems that if you have a model of a guy (the older the better), the various lines, wrinkles and blemishes really help to make him look real.

In models of young women, the smooth skin tends to look really plastic and fake. That's what made the Final Fantasy movie look so creepy. The women didn't look real but they didn't look like your usual CG animation either. Even the younger men looked fake. The older men looked real though. That really lends credence to the Uncanny Valley theory.

I never said they were renders from the Revolution. I was just commenting on how the render is one of the first of women that I've seen that hasn't looked like a wierd plastic unreal person and instead looked real.

It wasn't really following any of the points in the thread. I just thought it was an interesting observation as I hadn't seen these Brazil renders prior to this post.

UNCANNY VALLEY 4 L1F3! :)
