Down in Flames focuses on tactical fighter to fighter dogfight combat in World War II. The game is turn based, and the action is resolved through a unique 'action - reaction' game mechanic that allows players to experience the feel of real life aerial dogfighting with a fast paced, easy to learn system.
Battlefront.com has released a Down in Flames demo featuring one campaign (Dunkirk), 4 planes, online and LAN (up to 4 players), and choose from four different nationalities. This demo requires you to install Microsoft .Net Framework 1.01.
Get the Down in Flames demo (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=27085) (122mb) over at WorthPlaying.

Wow, I'm officially creating the hottest new soon-to-be-overused criticism just for the title of "Down in Flames."
Critic bait.
All across the nation, critics are praying to the maker that this game is terrible.

Let me contact Battlefront and see what they have to say about the installer not working.
Update : My bad, the file was incorrectly labelled as a .exe, while in fact it was a .zip file. I tried myself and it seems to be working just fine.

Program too big to fit in memory
Dang.
[edit] Grabbing from another site and it appears to be a zip.

I've had my eye on this for a LONG damn time. Of course I blink and then BLAMMO the demo comes out. =P
Anyhow, I'm looking forward to it. I haven't seen a good turn-based dogfighting game on the PC since Over the Reich, and that was like FOREVER ago, so I'm really hungry for this.

What a fiasco. The bad exe from Worthplaying.com would not delete unless I went to safe mode cmd prompt with explorer not running. That's 45 minutes I'll never get back.

I had the same problem with Worthplaying.com, but was able to download it at gamers hell . It's kind of an interesting game... and I kind of like it. May even pick it up when it's out.
You can find a working download here:

I absolutely adored the original card game this is based on. I can't even guess how many hours I played it over the years. Unfortunately my copy went missing during a move.
It took a few loses for me to figure out exactly what the hell I was doing. Once I started getting the hang of it, fun. Still having some tough matches and my wingman seems to be better than the leader but I could really get into this game.
I only wish if it is based on a card game they could have given card graphics to use instead of just the card titles. It wouldn't change game play any but it could add a lot to the feel of the game.

You can see the cards if you right click on the card name. This is definitely a cool game. I played last night from about 8PM to midnight!
