1up (http://www.1up.com/) has posted a preview (http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3142422&did=1) of the PS2 version of King Kong from the G-Phoria awards show.
Here's a bit from the article...
Control-wise, the game splits itself up into two portions. For the majority of the game, you'll play as Jack Driscoll as you travel around in a first-person adventure. It features standard Halo aiming controls and is easy to jump into if you've played a first-person shooter before. The main difference between these segments and a traditional shooter, however, is that Driscoll is not an extremely powerful figure. In one scene, you don't have the luxury of a gun, so you have to throw a spear into a creature that looks like a giant scorpion, and because of your lack of ammunition, you have to pull the spear back out every time you get a successful hit, until the creature finally falls. In another scene, you run away from a T-Rex while turning around trying to shoot at it with your gun -- and while the particle effects that show up as a result of your gunfire look nice, it's clear you are outmatched and have to find another way to survive.Release Date: 12/01/2005 (PC (http://www.gametab.com/pc/king.kong/4228/), XBOX (http://www.gametab.com/xbox/king.kong/4229/), GCN (http://www.gametab.com/gcn/king.kong/4230/), PS2 (http://www.gametab.com/ps2/king.kong/4231/), GBA (http://www.gametab.com/gba/king.kong/4232/), DS (http://www.gametab.com/ds/king.kong/4233/), PSP (http://www.gametab.com/psp/king.kong/4234/), XBOX360 (http://www.gametab.com/xbox360/king.kong/4235/), PS3 (http://www.gametab.com/ps3/king.kong/4236/))
I didn't know that Peter Jackson chose Ubisoft because he dug Beyond Good & Evil. I thought I read it in Wired that he didn't like how EA handled the whole LOTR franchise while he was invovled with it.
