Audiences fell under the spell of Enchanted, a fairy-tale romance that debuted as the No. 1 movie. Frank Darabont's (The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption) highly anticipated Stephen King adaption, The Mist, opened at #9, but wowed critics and audiences alike with its gut-punching ending.

Here is the Weekend Boxoffice Chart for the weekend of November 23rd to November 25th.

Enchanted $35.3/$50.0
This Christmas $18.6/$27.1
Beowulf $16.2/$56.3
Hitman $13.0/$21.0
Bee Movie $12.0/$112.0
Fred Claus $10.7/$53.0
August Rush $9.4/$13.3
American Gangster $9.2/$115.7
Stephen King's The Mist $9.0/$13.0
No Country for Old Men $8.1/$16.6
Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium $8.0/$22.2
Dan in Real Life $3.2/$42.4

If I was to take the wife to a movie, what would be the best one to see out of these two choices:

Beowulf
The Mist

I've either seen or don't care about the others.

How about I go see Enchanted with your wife? It looks dreamy, and dagnamit, I will not go in there sans woman.

I bet if you go with CaptStu, he will not stop once he feels what you slid into that hole at the bottom of the popcorn bucket.

You know, I hate to say it but Enchanted's Rotten Tomatoes score is spot on. Went with the extended fam and everyone loved it. It's just a fun movie.

I'm going to see the Mist sometime in the next week or two. Other than that there isn't much out that interests me.

For some reason I almost want to see Enchanted....I watched the trailer five or six times. I feel dirty. :(

I'm curious how Dustin Hoffman and Jason Bateman and Natalie Portman all got suckered into "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium."

Is the Mist actually any good?

There's a lot of buzz about some kind of amazing ending.

I heard the same thing about this massage parlor in town. Lemme just say that you do not get a happy ending with sandpaper.

I don't know which is sadder; Hitman being in the top 5 or Fred Claus still being in the top 10.

I swear, it's like people enjoy shitty movies. There's No Country For Old Men right there, and yet people watch Beowulf and Fred Claus instead. Fucking shame.

Maybe that's because Beowulf fucking rocked?

Fred Clause and Hitman is another thing though....

Beowulf fucking sucked. An Austin Powers-esque fight scene? Do not want.

To each his own, I suppose. At least Beowulf is fun to look at. But there's no excuse for Fred Claus. None.

anyone go see Hitman. If so thoughts/I haven't seen it, but there are some thoughts on it in the Ebert reviews Hitman (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40050) thread.

I really liked The Mist.

NO SPOILERS

The ending is a bit shocking but I'm so sick of generic endings these days it was refreshing to see something that could either piss people off or make them very happy. I also loved the characters, they all felt real. Most importantly, no fucking wiz kids that know it all and save the day. Just real people scared to death and trying to survive.

Beowulf... Was not a great movie. But it was absolutely hilarious. I think I laughed harder at that movie than I have at some of the comedies this year. I have to admit that I enjoyed it.

Family friendly movie weekend for me (as most are these days).

Enchanted was hilarious. August Rush was excellent as well.

Hmmm. Makes me interested. Then again, I hardly get to ANY movies these days (with the wife and kid) and this would be quite a stretch.

Fred Clause - 3600 Theaters - $2935 Avg.
No Country - 860 Theaters - $9042 Avg.

Only movies that made more per theater were the number 1 and 2 movies, so don't worry it is definitely holding it's own and is at the top of my list for movies I gotta see ASAP.

Almost went to see Enchanted with my girl this weekend, which I had no problem with at all because 1) Amy Adams is adorable and 2) with the reviews it's getting, I have a feeling I could do much worse. Instead we watched Flushed Away which was fucking great, as an animator myself I loved the way the characters were handled and on top of that the story was actually pretty good as well. Anyone who's looking for something to watch with their significant other and doesn't feel like gouging their eyes out with the usual chick flick fare should definitely give it a shot.

*Sigh* what life would be like to be with someone who enjoys action/horror/anything cool.....

If it hadn't been said in another thread, Bee Movie sucked. I've seen some real stinkers with my kids but that one was pretty bad.

Enchanted is a decent movie, it's comical. It basically parodies all the Disney cliches--despite being a Disney movie--and fairly tales.

What was it?
"She's my true love!"
"Wow...you said that without even a hint of sarcasm."
