This week's XBLA release is another retro title with a fresh make over that also includes the original retro title.

Asteroids Deluxe (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/a/asteroidsxboxlivearcade) will hit the arcade this Wednesday for 400 MS Points and will include the original Asteroids as well as the updated version.

That link doesn't seem to work.

Edit: Also, are you sure it comes with the original Asteroids? Because on Major Nelson, he says they are separate on the marketplace, and go for 400 points each.

This week on Arcade: Asteroids (x2)
It’s an double shot of Asteroids this week on Arcade. “Asteroids” and “Asteroids Deluxe” will be available this Wednesday for 400 points each.

Great time to release arcadegames I don't give a shit about. I don't have time for something new until Januari.

If they did indeed split them into 400 points each, that's shenanigans, and I'll be happy not to buy. The original Asteroids has about as much gameplay as the original Jetpac, and that was free with the awesome Refueled... and that was also $5.

Edit: Looks like it's both after all. Okay, for an Asteroids fan, that's totally worth it.

Super Stardust HD. ;)

SS HD was awesome. My favorite PS3 game by far.

I haven't played it for a while, but I'll probably go back to it once I've caught up on all the new releases.

That would make more sense. I thought it seemed kind of... stupid to release the original, along side a new one, for the same price.

Loved this game as a kid so a must buy for me as long as both of them are together. Now bring on Warlords!

Am I missing something?

I really don't see what this has to do with Castle Crashers..

Awesome - I've only played Asteroids Deluxe on a Mame cabinet, and enjoyed it quite a bit. Definitely giving it a shot on XBLA.

Good to see they got the price right for once. 400 points is fair, and I'll be sure to get it.

This fits perfectly with my Jeff Minter post. Unfortunately he is right about the remakes. And Asteroids, Really? Why not just release every remake, bundled, in a collection?

They've done that too huh? Well Shit.

Yep it looks like someone at Microsoft can't tell the difference between Asteriods and a WWII FPS.

Atari Anthology. (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/atarianthology/review.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gssummary&tag=summary;review) It's BC with the 360, has 80 Atari titles on it, and includes Asteroids. All for the whopping price of a bargain-dust-bin title!!!!

I said the same thing about Sonic (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/sonicmegacollectionplus/review.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gssummary&tag=summary;review) on XBLA as well.

Please spend your money as you see fit, but spending it on an XBLA download when a disk is available for the same or less and the disk has more content on it, is...

well, it rhymes with roopid. :D

It would be really great to get Warlords up on Live!

Both of them actually - the old Atari classic and the great Mac TBS from SSG.

You have been playing them on the Live Arcade since it launched.

I demoed this (didn't intend to buy it...see my previous post) just to check it out. The updated Asteroids (see Sandman's pic above) is really bad, in my opinion. The explosions conceal the asteroids to some extent themselves. I also didn't like the controls. I would have preferred movement and firing based upon both analog sticks, which seems much more intuitive and less cramp-inducing to me.

I played a little bit, disliked it, and deleted it.
