Finally realizing that the rest of the world has moved on from the GameCube and Game Boy Advance, Nintendo of Europe (http://www.nintendo-europe.com/) has announced it's closing its online presence for the time being in order to revamp the content and layout.

In August 2002 we launched the Nintendo-Europe.com that you are looking at now. Back then it was the time of the Nintendo GameCube and the Game Boy Advance. We’ve seen a lot of changes over the past five years – and now it’s time for our online home to follow suit.

On 26 November we will close the curtain on our current website as we enter the final stages of preparation for our new online home. We would like to ask you for your patience as we work on finalising the new website. In the meantime we’ll make sure you can keep registering your products and will still be able to find our latest game sites.

At this stage, we would like to inform our existing members that the current distinction between Club members and VIP 24:7 members will disappear, as everyone registered on the website will become a Club Nintendo member. So if you’re already a member, all your account details will remain intact.

We want to thank you for your ongoing loyalty and we would like you to know that we are doing our very best to build a website that you will enjoy even more than the one you’ve been visiting these past five years.

Please stay tuned, we’ll be back soon!
Anyone here a Club or VIP 24:7 member? What's the difference, and how does this change affect you?

This site just popped up. Even though it isn't registered to the provider Nintendo goes to, could this be a new Zelda game? http://zelda2008.com/

It's possible, but if it isn't registered to their provider... My money is more on some fansite. Though I've never seen a fansite that has a 'coming soon' thing set up so long in advance. I still have a slight bit of intrigued hope. And yes, this includes decrypting the hylian beneath the 'Legend of Zelda', then running the Japanese it becomes through babble fish. :p

Nintendo thinks that whole internet thing is just a fad.

Huh? The site came up fine for me. Tons of Wii and DS stuff there. Why would they close their whole European site just because GameCube and GBA have faded?

Real sorry, but why is this news?

see when you add "...For Now" the the end of that subject line it looses its NEWS-e-NES.

I'm surprised they bothered to announce a site redesign. Just do it already.

I think you missed the "and will reopen with a new version of the site" part of the post.

As for that possibly fake Zelda site...
I wish I could say a new Zelda game would get me excited...but I have trouble caring after Ocarina of Time 2: The Search for More Money. I, for one, was left rather unimpressed with the game. It just felt like they were trying too hard to repeat the Ocarina experience with a new game...the entire thing felt like one huge attempt at fanservice and it got rather tiresome by the end of the game.

I was one of those people who absolutely ADORED the new art direction in Wind Waker and after playing through Twilight Princess, I was kind of bored. It was fun and all, but nothing compelling.

Exactly. It wasn't a bad game...it just felt cheap, insofar as it was all too obvious it was crafted purely to appeal and appease Ocarina's fans.
If Twilight Princess is any indication of the direction the series is taking...I'm not entirely sure if I want in.

I'm fine with something that has the Zelda formula but they need to jazz it up a bit more if I'm going to be excited for it.

Zelda Prime, anyone? :o
