In a press release announcement (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050729/laf023.html) from Activision, Marvel Comics has signed with Activision to create a "new, non-persistent RPG that will use a variety of super heroes from Marvel's line-up of characters."
There was no mention in the press release of who the developer is going to be, however the game is slated for release in Activision's 2007 fiscal year.
Thanks to Gamecloud (http://gamecloud.com/) for the tip.
No real comment, except maybe Hulk smash?

A superhero game with the Silent Storm engine would be kick ass.

That's interesting. I wonder what kind of an RPG it will be? Marvel Legends? :)

Glad to see something like this coming to the PC. That is of course so long as it isn't awful.. But really with the exception of some comic turn movie turn video game, games there really hasn't been too many horrible comic games, have there?

There were some terrible ones I recall from the early 90's (for PC), like the Punisher, Spider-Man and Captain America, a couple others... I bought a multi-pack once, figuring it'd be a good deal, but they were pretty horrifyingly bad. Then things kind of went dry until the first Freedom Force game came out, then comic-based games seemed to have new life breathed into them. =)

I could go for an Ultimates RPG, kinda like X-men Legends likely.

Couldn't agree more, although the Soldiers Heroes of WWII engine was better than Silent Storm. Runs much faster and made for real time performance.

let me guess, this is going to be a hack/slasher like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, right? If so, fuck off. Like we need more of that boring, uninspired Diablo-clone bullshit.

That's what I was thinking. Marvel has got to tie this in with their hot selling product somehow. Or maybe- you need to buy the game to complete the House of M storyline.

Whoa. Sweet. I'll buy it if it's as good as X-Men Legends was.
