Chris Kohler from Wired's Game|Life blog reports that House of The Dead is shambling onto Wii (http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/11/sega-confirms-w.html) in the Spring of next year.
And the timing's pretty good, too, considering that the Wii Zapper has just been released. I wonder what versions of the game they'll port? The arcade originals? Or will they take the Dreamcast version of 2 and the Xbox version of 3 (pictured) and move them to the Wii?I got an idea, why not make a mega bundle of all versions and put it on one disc? That should make the price tag a bit easier to swallow. I'm really diggin' the resurgence of the lightgun genre. :D

Nice. Very very nice. House of the Dead was awesome to play and I always hated how I had to chuck out 75 cents to a buck to play it at Theaters.

Will be nice to get this.

I'm just glad the Wii gun games will work on my DLP HDTV.

Damn you Time Crisis 3!!

I know there's a special gun out there, but damned if I'm paying ANOTHER $60 to play the game.

I love light gun games, but I really don't like HOTD2. I haven't played the third, but I have 2 for my Dreamcast, and it's... just horrible.

That hasn't stopped me from playing through it countless times, but it's such a shitty game! It really is!

A Virtua Cop collection would be amazing. Throw in Confidential Mission, as well : )

The problem with the Light Gun reemergence is have replaced every single other game in the arcades now.

Don't look back. ;-) HotD 2 isn't just the best game in the series, it's probably my favorite light gun game of all time. That said, I already have it for DC (just played it on Halloween), and 3 is pretty cheap on xbox if I wanted to play through it again - the draw for me would be having a copy of 1 & 4 at home. If it was all four titles I'd preorder right now. Just 2 & 3... Hmmm... they'd have to add online co-op or something to make me buy it again. I just picked up Confidential Mission at Flea World a couple of weeks ago, and it is indeed awesome.

Same here. I wish someone would make a gun for the 360 so I can play part 3 correctly on it with out having to use the controller.

I hope they throw in a quick-n-dirty port of HOTD1 in there, just so we've got the whole trilogy.

you do realize there are 4 HotD games, right? also, HotD4 has a motion sensitive lightgun that you use to shake off zombies and reload.

Like with the Alien movies... Quadrilogy!!!!!!!:D

Random light gun game... I really would like to be able to play Gumshoe on VC... I know the game is kinda lame but I sure had a lot of fun with it (but they would have to reprogram it to work with the wiimote and charge us 600 points instead of 500 but whatever).

It'll probably happen. Too many people would play Duck Hunt to not update the NES emulator to support the Zapper.

And of course, we know what's next... Battleclash!

They do have Time Crisis 4 coming out for the PS3. I did like the other gun games for PS2, but unfortunately once I went HD that was it for playing those.

I have the first house of the dead and Vitua Cop 1 & 2 and a few others light gun games for my sega saturn, and it is the only reason i keep a tube television around for =). As for gun games i have not gotten anything recent, this and the resident evil game look like i will start picking up the light gun games again.

I really want to know how the Guncon3 will compare to the Wii Zapper. I'm guessing Guncon3 will be perfect.

If they somehow throw in Typing of the Dead, even if it's an unlockable or well hidden I'll be buying this instantly. The Wii does have USB keyboard support.

Otherwise I think i'll hold off.

HOTD4 is on the Lindbergh board (Intel/Nvidea configuration - comparable to the PS3, 360) so it would have to take a graphical hit to squeeze onto wii. Still, I don't like it as much because Uzis in a light gun game just aren't much fun. I loved playing HOTD3 arcade with the pump action reload. A compilation of HOTD2 and 3 for wii is a great idea.

With COD2 and Resident Evil:UC both out and with HoD coming out, my desire to purchase Ghost Squad has taken a big hit. Maybe since it is so cheap I'll throw it on the Christmas list.

Also Sega please release a Virtua Cop pack ASAP.

I love House of the Dead, but it's annoying that you can complete any given game in the series in less than an hour.

FWIW, I picked up MoH Heroes 2 for Wii yesterday, and the light gun mode is pretty cool. It feels different from your average arcade light gun game, as it incorporates some FPS elements such as different weapon controls (bazooka, sniper and grenades use motion control fairly well), and a default rapid-fire gun, but it plays great, looks great, and is a pretty polished game overall. Not to mention you get the full single player FPS and online DM, Team DM and CTF. Pretty full package - even though WW2 shooters have been done to death, you get your money's worth.

I think they're bringing 2&3 because the hardware is much closer, and this is a quick and easy Wii title to rush out. Porting 1 & 4 would have required more work. Nice job, Sega. :( As much as I love HotD, I already have a near arcade-perfect 2 on my DC, and I've played through 3 on the xbox, so it's going to take something special for me to buy these again. I love light gun games, though, and I'm looking forward to trying out Ghost squad and RE:UC.

I hate to be a conspirist, but it IS a little odd that they can't make a quick n dirty port of 1... Maybe they're saving it for if Saturn ever gets a shot at the VC? :p

But yeah, it'll be disappointing if they don't toss in Typing of the Dead as a bonus. Just have it unlockable and deal with some bitching from people who don't have spare keyboards readily available, it'll still totally be worth it!

well i know they wouldnt port the saturn version because the director of the new nights said that porting saturn games that werent created with intentions of porting is a beast. for that reason, i highly doubt we'd see saturn on the vc, unless they came up with a saturn emulator that let us use saturn discs, now that would be cool. anyways, the first hotd did end up on the pc, and besides that, it came out in 96, how hard would it be to port an 11 year old arcade game that took minutes to complete? throw in online play, the first game, and maybe some other random extras and im sold, but for just 2 and 3? ill wait til its in the bargain bin. oh and for those commenting on virtua cop, thats what im talkin about. ive been sayin this since the wii came out. virtua cop was one of my FAVORITE games on the saturn, i remember i got virtua cop 2 for my 14th birthday and i beat the game like 5 times that first day, i had 2 stunners too, a red-orange american one, and the blue uk one. this was one of my fave genres as an early teen mostly because of the first virtua cop. i was super mad when sega canned the ps2 version they had said they were doing (or maybe that was a rumor). id also like to see that lost world jurassic park light gun arcade come home as well, i LOVED sega's arcade games, and i think that the wii is perfect for those. namco, forget your allegiance to sony, and bring us the time crisis games instead of soul calibur legends. the wii zapper, time crisis 1 - 4, crisis zone, and the balance board would be a good idea. or how about those konami police games where you had to duck? theres so much potential on the wii for arcade genres.

I'm still trying to figure out how to fit Time Crisis 4 into the gaming budget. My wallet is hemorrhaging money so badly I think I need to take it to a sort of ER for wallets or something. Between Christmas gifts for people and Mario Galaxy, Naruto, Ratchet & Clank, COD4, Eye of Judgement and a ton of cards, Silent Hill Origins, Phantom Hourglass, RE: Umbrella Chronicles, and god knows what else I've bought lately, and Mass Effect coming out in just 2 more days, I can't take much more of this. But yes, I need TC4 to come and usher in a new era of HD light gun gaming.

Oh, and I'll happily buy this HotD collection too.... to stay on topic!

This is wonderful, and really makes me wanna play Chronicles all the more.

Chronicles does not easily compare to the HotD series...while Namco and Sega were busy putting together rich environments for light gun games, for some reason the RE universe seems muted and dull. Zombies don't really react to getting shot, like falling back and losing chunks of flesh. It's really quite disappointing. One of my obsessions when playing Virtua Cop in the arcades when it came out was how the enemies flailed depending on where you shot them. And the slug zombies are so totally boring to fight, I'm quite surprised. I'm thinking of returning it...although most titles I want for the year are about to come out and are already paid for.

I just wish these games were taking advantage of the guncon3...which I assume will be arcade perfect, as opposed to the wiimotes abysmal performance for this space.

They ported the original Panzer Dragoon onto the XBox, so I really do not know why it would be so hard.

speaking of lightgun games and MoH:H2 ...

EA,
What's the point of having an Arcade mode in Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 if there's no goddamn co-op?
