Very very interesting.

Hi-def digest is reporting (http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Sony/Exclusive_HD_Content/Disc_Announcements/Sony_Joins_Profile_1.1_Party_with_Resident_Evil:_E xtinction_Blu-ray/1165) that the home versions of Resident Evil: Apocalypse, both Blu-Ray and standard DVD, will come with demos for both Devil May Cry 4 and Resident Evil 5 on the disc in North America. This has been confirmed by Sony's Threespeech Blog (http://threespeech.com/blog/?p=728). The demos will also be a part of the Resident Evil Trilogy boxed set that releases the same day, January 2nd, 2008.

Thanks to MCV (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/28897/New-Resi-movie-to-include-RE5-and-DMC4-demos).

That's one way to get people to buy the film!

Editor's note - Capcom has come out (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/49966) and said that these will be videos, not playable demos.

Whoa....

I wasn't expecting that :) I guess I'm buying that movie after all.

So I take it these are demos for PS3 only, and not for 360? Dang. :)

Well, I had it on my rental queue anyway, so this doesn't change anything for me.

That's pretty cool. I'm guessing they are PS3 demos since they are connected to Sony through Blu-Ray? Or are they PC demos? =] It does say they will be on the standard DVD version as well but wouldn't they need to make space for each console version separately?

Come on!

You know you want to play them :)

Come on!

You know you want to play them :)They're demos. I can beat them both in 3 hours, tops. I don't need to buy a movie for that.

So here I was thinking it was the latest RE movie, but no, I looked it up...

...I think I'll just wait until they hit Live.

Hopefully that's feasible and Sony didn't pay for exclusive access (Aren't the RE movies done by a Sony production company?).

Real demos and not trailers?

Nice!

They've been doing this for years. Van Helsing and Star Wars both had Xbox demos on them. I can't remember any other movies off the top of my head but there were a few.

I presume they will make it to PSN/XBL around the same time, provided that there isn't some sort of exclusivity deal in place. If there is, that would suck, selling demos is fucking weak.

Wait, so you get some movies aswell when you buy the demos? :P

This is wrong. They will be videos, not demos. Also, it will feature a preview of the upcoming Resident Evil CG movie, Degeneration.

Edit: My source is unofficial, but trusted so I guess you can take my word for a grain of salt. I think it might be a tad early for a demo of a game to be released in 09.

For it to say that the demos are on BR-DVD and Standard DVD would mean they are for both. They couldn't possibly put a Ps3 game on a DVD... right? Wouldn't the universe implode or something?

That sounds much more plausible. But now you've dashed my dreams. What a shame.

You mean like they did with Lost Planet? Its never too early... unless we're talking about Too Human.

Would have been pretty quick for a RE5 demo IMO.

Lost Planet's demo was an E3 build. There has been no playable demo of RE5 anywhere so it would be crazy to think we would get one with a video pack-in.

Damn! Someone needs to change the title of this thread. I just about ran out to buy this movie, luckily I hung out long enough to read the rest of the thread. Now I won't be wasting my hard earned money on this garbage movie. Wait.....Apocalypse? I already have that movie. Are you sure it's not the new movie? Extinction?

Even supplimenting playable demos of two of my most anticipated games for 08' and 09' wouldn't make me buy that piece of crap on DVD.

I LOLed. Nicely done, sir.

Was thinking the same thing.

However - none of this matters now. Just trailers after all ... :D

Damnit! You got me all excited ready to click over to Amazon and give RE:A an order but noooo you had to throw that part about them being videos and not demos didn't you? Didn't you?
