According to IMDB (Internet movie database) Marlon Brando's voice will not be used in the upcoming Godfather game. Before his death he was severely ill and the voice work he did during this time is unusable.
Look at the bottom of this page (http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/#celeb9) for the full story.

Yeah, I had heard this earlier. Too bad, but understandable.

Well, given that it is an oft-imitated voice, I would think that finding someone to match the intonation and rhythms of the Godfather would be pretty easy. But pulling off the performance with the same gravitas as Brando? Not so much. But, here's hoping.

so what does godfather have going for it now? No brando, coppola continuing to slate the game. Is this worth getting or is it just EA's cash in on 'Mafia'?

It still doesn't look too bad if you are a fan of the genre and movies. They still have James Caan and James Duvall doing voice work for it. I'll probably pick it up when it releases for the 360 and play it for a while. I like the idea of working up through the Corleone family. As long as it isn't too linear anyway.

Cash in on Mafia? I don't know that anyone is planning on cashing in on a game that (tragically) had very little commercial success.

Old news.
Move along, people, there's nothing to see here.

I know its cool to bash the Godfather game (and the upcoming Scarface game) but I'm taking a hopeful wait and see attitude on both. I think The Godfather could be awesome. I've always loved the movies and the world in which they take place. To be a part of that world, however small, could be a big thrill.

duckman had a great voice cast because he sounded exactly like jason alexander.
For me I'd rather have one very enthused voice actor who wants the job rather than mediocre "damn I have to do it because I have to" voice jobs (see most celebrity voice acting in games).

Brando was really good and all. He could have been a contender, but aren't the Godfather movies mainly about Michael?
Get Pacino. Make him an offer he can't refuse.
Throw some cotton in a fat guy's mouth and have him strain his vocal chords and you've got Vito.

I'll make him an offer that, consequently, he will be both physically and mentally unable to refuse due to the severity of said offer.

So... The attempt to cash in on a person's talent after his death is not working out... I wonder who's the voice actor replacement. The Producer's wife's chiropractor? :)

I liked it except for a) the nigh-impossible to control early cars and b) the wonky pedestrian combat.
BTW I heard from a friend of a friend over the internet that the inside word at EA is that the game blows.
You know it must be true.
