Relax, it's only in Australia and New Zealand. Plus, it's only by one week!

"Due to manufacturing and freight difficulties during this time of year, Ubisoft Australia & New Zealand were unable to receive their full allocation of Assassins Creed stock required to fulfill all Day One orders," the statement said.

"In an effort to treat all retailers and consumers fairly, Ubisoft will wait until the balance of stock is received in our warehouse before we ship the game."

But next to Japan they are the closest to the factories making the damn discs. Reminds me of the time the dairy farm ran out of milk.

The release dates for AC have been pretty sketchy overall. I read 13th NA in places, then 14th when talking to clerks at Walmart (saying 13th is when they're getting it shipped) and then the launch trailer and the newsletter I got from Ubisoft both say the 15th.

Just fucking release it already!

That sucks for the Austrailians though. Chin up Kiwis, it's only a week! :)

I just hope I get it on the 13th, damn it. The game looks hot.

From what I've heard it's released tomorrow. At least that's what my Gamestop pre-order tells me. Can't wait! Though even after I buy it I'm putting it on the back burner until I'm done with Call of Duty 4. Damn and then Mass Effect comes out next tuesday along with Rock Band! I'm still playing Guitar Hero 3. Too many games.....not enough time.:(

Well at least I'm all set until next year. Should keep me busy for a while.:)

So, uh...why are you buying them now if you aren't playing them until next year? I'm definitely going to hold off on some games until next year, when I have time and when they'll be cheaper.

This may be a rental for me. The closer the game gets to release the less excited people seem to be about it. In particular the games press. Alot of the hands on previews weren't super favorable. I'm interested to see how the final game turns out.

Why buy food to put in the fridge if you know you're going out for dinner tonight?

Sure - don't overstock - but usually most of my gaming of the week is done on my day off, or at night, well after work, which are the times when going and grabbing a game is not desirable. I think people who work, and have limited gaming time - more often than not, try to schedule/budget paycheck allocations to particular game release dates. I like to get an idea of what I want for the next few months, and pre-order/wait for specials for 1st/2nd tier desired titles.

Anothe difference games have to comics/dvd's/music - is that experiencing them can take varied amounts of time. I know I can sit to watch a movie I bought, and that'll take 2 hours - plus 3 - 5 for the extras if I want to go there. I know a 300 odd page graphic novel may take around 2-3 hours.

A game - be it COD4 online (infinite) or Portal (relatively short - but I'm still stuck somewhere on 19) can have different timespans - on a day where I'm allocating 5-6 hours of "media imbibing" time - it's not often I'll throw a graphic novel down, or stop a dvd and say "I'm not getting anywhere! I'm checking something else out for shits n' giggles and to relieve the frustration of failing in the same area for the last 30 minutes".

Anyway - back on topic.

My preorder for Mass Effect was originally scheduled to drop down here on 15/11 , which I thought was strange since the 17th was the US release . Last night I noticed ME had slipped to the 22nd, so cancelled my initial preorder, and bumped it into another one to ship with Creed - which was scheduled for 22/11 (prior to this new development).

Looks like I'll be getting DW Gundam (which AFAIK is still out on 15/11 here) and Mass Effect on 22/11 now - and Assassin's Creed I may have to put back the purchase of somewhat. But I don't want to miss out on my Krahulik/Holkins mini comic/preorder pack. Decisions, decisions.

Mass Effect will keep me happy until it gets around to coming out.

I was telling Crowe this today. I love the work that the PoP team does. I just loved all three of the trilogy. But their games cannot hold up to the holiday offerings. This is a game that should go out in March or April. And this is something that I feel Ubisoft has done to a lot of its games. They just seem to set these great games up for failure, because they cannot stack up to the better games coming at the same time.

Oh well not as though I can afford the god damn game as it is. If only steam was on Xbox 360.

I am definitely going to give this a try though, if its good then I will no doubt pick it up at a later date.

Not for a while (early 2008 sometime I believe) unfortunately.

It's because of the french manual they have to provide with every copy.

Oh wait...

Some people have speculated that's the reason it was delayed (supposedly) to the 15th in Canada. I haven't looked around for it yet today (will after work), but I hope that's bs.

I thought the same thing yesterday talking to my brother in law...he lives in Hawaii (Nuke sub engineer in Navy) and he won't get it till Thursday. I was in EB Games paying off my Mass Effect when another customer that worked for an international shipper told me "due to import laws, some shipments have to "touch" down in a specific facility before they can be shipped further." In my example things have to go to California before they can go to Hawaii...even if it is closer. In the Australia situation I wonder if it is because they have different import restrictions and that is why Ubisoft chose those 2 locations as the ones to wait? or maybe they had the least number of pre-orders compared to other countries...either way it sucks.

Well shit, I was gonna call them but I may just not bother and try Bestbuy/Walmart/places not EB Games instead.

I walked into Gamestop a few minutes ago and they said it's not out until tomorrow. They claimed the 13th date on their site was the ship date for online orders so that over-nighters got it on release date or some such bullocks.

Well I went to pick up my game at Gamestop today after work and the clerk told me it's not due out 'til tomorrow (Wednesday 11/14). I told him I thought that was strange because most games are released on Tuesday. Either way I'll be there tomorrow and if they still don't have it then I dunno.

Oh btw, I'm in/or at least right near Orlando, FL. as well.

edit: Update: I picked it up today. WOOT! Now I just have to wait for my girlfriend to get off Guitar Hero 3 so that I can play it.
