Pro-G (http://www.pro-g.co.uk) has a Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure preview.

The ego has landed, or, in Marc Ecko's case, it's fallen flat on its face. Cynical gamer intuition aside, urban fashion designer Ecko (he of the rhino) seems to think his image is worthy of a AAA release on PS2, Xbox and PC. Whether you like his clothes or not, it doesn't matter, we'll give you the benefit of the doubt Mr Ecko - if your game is good, that's fine by us.

Read the full Marc Ecko's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure preview (http://www.pro-g.co.uk/previews/pid/706/104/).

If the article hadn't specified otherwise, I'd have assumed this was coming for the PS1. Those graphics are very dated looking. Ouch.

I can't deny that I'm interested in the title. I hope it's good. (Then again, I suppose I hope all games are good, but still.) If it sucks, it sucks.

But misspelling 'Marc' as 'Mark', even though it's in the title of the game, doesn't instill too much confidence in the previewer.

Man, what a snotty review. and those that don't like hip-hop and feel Ecko has no right to impose his ego on the world's gamers.

Stuff like that really gets on my nerves. What does that even mean?

I think it means that someone didn't put enough money in the reviewers pocket to make them feel like they are special.

Reviews anymore aren't about telling the truth as mutch as getting on a soap box and being a loud mouth so people will watch and listen.

Oh and last rant about reviewers. While they claim to take some sorta of gaming high road when reviewing they are nothing but wanabe game designers who can't actually get a job doing that. They say they want something new, interesting or different but when that hits them in the face they can't see that because they are looking for all the old familiar things to reasure them that indeed this is a game! So while they become more and more out of touch with the general population around them, they yell and scream like old men, only making themselves look foolish.

Should the preview have been a bunch of lies then?

Isn't honesty in gaming journalism what people want?

It seems like just an attack to me. I haven't seen this Mark Echo game and don't really care about it, except it would be nice to have an updated hip-hop version of JSRF 'cause that game had fruity music.

This guy just seems like a bunch of the reviewers nowadays, pompus asshats who are on some rant to make themselves seem "smarter" than us.

How can you judge a game by a preview? I've seen previews where they slam the game and it turn out great and I've seen previews where they lapped at the tit of the developer and the game was shit!

Previews are just supposed to be informative and light on sarcasm and oppinion.

Maybe this guy is trying to use this to get a job at IGN?!? :p

It's part of the problem of the gaming news world in general -- lack of smart, engaging people who can write well and aren't idiots or assholes. I've said it before, and I'll continue to: we need a Roger Ebert for the gaming world. A guy who writes damned good reviews that focus on the right stuff and are "everyman" enough to not sound arrogant despite the writer's vast knowledge of the field.

You know what we need Kefkataran?

We need Abraham Lincoln. (http://getthesugar.blogspot.com/2005/07/new-honest-guest-reviewer.html)

Has anyone ever called you insightful before? Because if not, I'm fucking calling it right now.

Seconded on the 'insightful' claim.

And for the record, I didn't mean to make this an anti-reviewer thread, I was just saying...

If this game is really as shitty as this guy says, he didnt' convince me. His only legitimate complaint is that the fighting system is "monotonous" but he only played like one level. He should have elaborated on the faulty targeting system.

Everything else he said made it sound like a fine game to me. Stealth kills, Prince of Persia-esque platforming, violence. Sound like it could be a lot of fun.

Most of his complaints are that it lacks originality. A train level oh no this game must suck. No freeroaming gameplay boo hoo I guess I won't have to spend ten minutes wandering around everytime I fail a mission. He says there's no sandbox gameplay but isn't pushing a cleaner into oncoming traffic the definition of sandbox gameplay? Maybe the game isn't incredibly original but the tagging aspect makes it more original than your average action game.

You mean you never saw this logo (http://rhml.lib.mo.us/jesse/IMAGES/ecko.gif) before?

So it's like Prince of Persia with spraypaint and hiphop. Well that sounds better than gothy Prince of Persia so I guess I am there.

I thought I was going to hate this game, until I read Deadend's comments which put everything in perspective and have actually turned me around. I'm now looking forwards to the game. Well done sir.

I love it when people use facile and shallow analogies. Having graffiti does not make a game like Jet Set Radio. Half Life had graffiti. Goddamn Valve, always ripping off street culture.

You know they got some real legendary graffiti heads in the game it shows they actually know something about the subject.

I always thought Half-Life was like a first-person Jet Set Radio.

We have Jet Set Radio. We don't need a commercialized ego-trip without the good music. That said, it was obvious the previewer just hated the idea and couldn't be bothered giving it a serious look. I'd have probably done the same thing, just to try to deter further ventures in advergaming.
