Console Gold (http://www.consolegold.com) has posted their Q&A with Gavin Carter, Producer on Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (http://www.consolegold.com/searchresults.php?searchtext=Elder+Scrolls+IV). The article covers some brand new information, here is an excerpt:CG: I’m a man of suspicious character…if I pick up a fork off of an NPC’s table will it be the all-out riot to rend the flesh from my bones that it was in Morrowind or does Radiant AI distinguish between a minor infraction and a major infraction?

Stealing is still a crime in the world of Tamriel, just as it is in real life. If you come in my house and start rummaging through my silverware, you can bet I’ll call the cops on you. Similarly, an NPC isn’t going to sit back if they see you cleaning off their tables, drawers, or anything else they own. They will run and fetch the guards. The good news is: minor infractions incur minor penalties, so stealing stuff that is very low in value will result in a very low fine. You can read the rest of the article right here (http://www.consolegold.com/Articles/articles.php?artID=67)! Look for Oblivion on Xbox360 and PC this Fall.

Need...this....game...NOW!

Anyone else see the ingame video narrated by Patrick Stewart as the Emperor? My knees started getting a little weak at that point. Looks to be a damn, damn fine game we have on our hands here.

I'm really looking forward to this one. I'm going to take the HD plunge this week, then just the long wait until November.

Where did you see that? Everything I have read suggests substantial changes. For example, no longer is damage determined purely on on skill points - if you hit the enemy, they have taken damage, if you miss, they have not, the skill points merely determine the damage they have taken. And, different hits now matter. In Morrowind, players just had to keep using 'the best' strike over and over. In Oblivion, there are going to be combos and players have control over what way the weapon is swung by hitting attack and a direction at the same time. Also, the balancing has been changed so that it is now possible to play through the game solely using a bow or magic or a melee weapon, where in Morrowind a certain level of diversification was necessary.

I admit that the animations could still use some work from the videos I have seen, but the combat has been improved considerably and now sounds far more intuitive. I will definitely be grabbing this ASAP.

They totally rewrote the combat. Unless you mean it's still realtime first person combat. Then yes...that's unchanged...but now it's more "twitched" based while still relying on rules that govern it.

I hope they have made the stealing "smarter". In Morrowind, if you stole something from someones house, all of that type of item becamse the stolen item to them. For example, you could minor steal a soul stone from an enchanter, and then use it to enchant something a a different enchanter. However, you could never use *any* minor soulstones with the first enchanter again because they would identify them as stolen. It would be nice if only the actual item you stole was identified, and not others like it.

Didn't Patrick Stewart play a part in Elder Scrolls 2? I might be confusing things but didn't he play the King in that game? Is he voicing the same guy in this new game?

I take it this means that you are buying a new TV? May I ask which TV you are buying? I saw a live feed of HD on a Samsung 50something inch HDTV yesterday and I have to say that I was very impressed. I would just be concerned with my current home theater equipment (receiver) being able to give me the picture quality I was looking at. (I know this question is off topic so you can PM me the answer and any insight you can give regarding what other home theater equipment you have. The TV I saw was $2999. Rather expensive for my tastes.

The combat system is what kept me out of Morrowind - I hope that the reworking of it will make me actually enjoy Oblivion.

Samsung just released their "true" HDTV's, which are 1080p capable (sorta, but I won't get into it), and they aren't TOO much more than their Sony counterparts. Which, is all relative, but it should mean that good TVs that are only a year or two old could be found for a great price.

I'm one of those people who wasn't really that hurt by the combat system but the direction the Bethesda team is going with this is a really positive one. This can't come out soon enough.

So this is a game which has cool medieval/magic type setting but the combat is real time? If i attack someone would i attack him either with melee or ranged in FPS mode?

Or is it still boring (only in my opinion)turn based hit point fest?

This game looks yummy indeed.
