ModDB (http://www.moddb.com/) has been re-launched with a new site that's all community this (http://www.moddb.com/groups/7/source-developers/members) and console development that (http://www.moddb.com/platforms/set/ps3). An "addons (http://www.moddb.com/addons)" section has been brought in for custom maps, skins, and other bits that don't constitute mods by themselves and the breadth of contributions you might make has been greatly increased, to the point at which reviews of addons of mods of mods are entirely possible.
So, uh, yeah. Are there many modders here?

I was going to get into it a couple months ago, then all these fucking games kept coming out and I haven't had any free time

I've mentioned this a few times here, but I do music for various mods (read: vaporware). The most prolific of which was Perfect Dark: Source, but with that on hiatus I'm pretty much free to donate my time if anyone has a project :).

This is me, incidentally. (http://www.moddb.com/members/45616/varsity) I do some stuff. :)

This is what soured me on mod work for awhile now. I put a lot of effort and energy into my models and textures, and 99% of it was for mods that went nowhere and never released even a beta.
My proudest moment was getting a vehicle texture into the original Quake Rally back when mods were really a new thing. Oh yea and I independently released an original model for Counter-Strike, a PLO terrorist that I was pretty happy with.

I'm currently involved in a mod. I'm lead programmer on a mod called "Sanity's Requiem." The lead on the project has mentioned intentions of putting it up on ModDB sometime soon for advertisement and possibly looking for additional help. (I don't know how much we need since our team is currently about 20 people).
Chances are this mod will make it to some sort of release. It's a student project at UAT and it's guaranteed to be in development until at least April/May of 2008.
I used to mod back in the HalfLife1 days... when CounterStrike just came out.
Half-Life Rally level designer. :)
Started a Zelda mod and got some good results before getting a cease and desist letter from Nintendo.
Also involved in a bunch of other various mods that I no longer recall.

This reminds me, where are the friendlier server side tools for mod makers? One of the things holding back the cool mods like Insurgency and Dystopia is the archaic Command Prompt based server tools.

Here's one more. I'm a 3D graphics artist (level design & modeling) and from time to time I also make skins/textures. Never really used ModDB, it's a handy site but I prefer the ones for specific communities. Currently I'm working on a project for Max Payne 2, hoping to finish it soon so I can move on to Crysis. If you are as well, check out CryMod.com (http://www.crymod.com/portal.php), InCrysis.com (http://www.incrysis.com/) and CryEngine2.org (http://www.cryengine2.org/).

And here I was thinking, "We need an open source mod/programming site for community projects." Beaten to the punch, again!

I'm impressed, we have a winner! :)
It's definitely worth checking out if people haven't already.

I was SO fricking stoked for Hull Breach, a HL2 mod.

Textures for;
Resident Evil: The Escape (HL1 project that got a lot of work done, but never released)
Jungle Warfare (UT2k3 mod, got 3rd in a Make Something Unreal round)
+ a few other, smaller dead projects for HL1 and Serious Sam
Can't wait to get my hands on Crysis. I really want to do a scary game that doesn't involve hallways, but rather have an open area and lots of atmosphere. Maybe a Silent Hill type of game... then I could make some music for it as well.
Can anyone say "official Evil Avatar Crysis horror-mod"? :p

If someone is up for organizing this and delving out responsibilities, I'd be down to put in some time.

Although this would probably be more fun in single player, I sorta think a scary multiplayer game without hallways would be fun.

Did my first ever model for jk2:jo (the first battledroid...damn those legs look shit now). Made some models for ut(2kx) too. Now still working on a huge ass project (for a single person) for Oblivion which I've shown some pics of around here.
Some WIPs from quite a while back:

Almost done with most of the modeling now...just have to finish a couple of props, the normalmaps of the castle...revisit my not-so-good texturing ability. Then I have to fill it with enemies and quests :) And somehow script an elevator :(
Krispy, you wouldn't happen to want to do some vaguely middle eastern environmental music, would you? :P
And I never use moddb... because a) I'm a single person and b) I always use game specific sites to upload my stuff.
