Fresh from my inbox:
It’s GameTap’s Game 1000 and it's coming Nov. 15, but there’s no way in heck that we’re going to tell you what it is ahead of time. You can twist our arm, bribe us, call us names, but you’re just going to have to wait along with everyone else for the big announcement. Can you stand it?
Now is as good a time as any to get in on the goodness. GameTap has been well worth the money I have paid, if only for Sam and Max. Being able to plug in my 360 controller and play Metal Slug and Street Fighter is definitely worth it. Do yourselves a favor and, if nothing else, sign up for the free service.

Good to see they have a sense of humor.
I've been contemplating getting gametap for years. Right now the only thing holding me back is harddrive space, i'm sure when i get my new machine, i won't have any reason to not get the service.

There is not much space per game, for the most part. The way they handle emulation means that classic games are incredibly small. More modern PC titles will be larger of course, Tomb Raider Anniversary was around 4 or 5 gigs for the install.

I've been back and forth with Gametap, but I'm definitely curious to see what this game is.

Best gaming choice I have made in the last year. Worth every penny, and I pay a year at a time.

So, does this thing work in Canada yet? That has been my impediment in trying it in the past.

It works in Canada but not all games are licensed there. I think they have more info on that in GameTap forums. The 1000th game is gonna be pretty good though.

Every month I get ready to cancel and every month I'm sucked back in.
Worth it for the kids games as well. My son loves most of the games we throw at him.

Just for the record, and YMMV, but I subscribed for two months, and then tried to cancel my account three times. The first two times they gave me a free month extension, and finally cut me off on the third time.
Gametap is a great deal though, once I solve some money issues I'll be resubscribing. Seems like it gets better all the time, too, wonder if it isn't too much of a good thing?

Couple things:
1) According to some folks here on this forum, it seems the Canada embargo is over, and all the games are up there now.
2) They fixed the unsubscribe thing, so you can just unsubscribe through the account page now instead of having to call or use that funky chat thing.
3) Gametap is awesome. I don't often play it these days, but I still pull it up occasionally, and it's jsut a fantastic resource really.

Best news I've heard about them ever. This will make my eventual resubscription that much easier.
Hmmm, interesting. I assume if you use a 360 controller on the PC then it has to be wired. Right now I have only wireless.
Not sure I need to get my nostalgia on or not. Everytime I get jonesing for it these days it wipes itself out quickly after a little play time when I go, "Hmmm, this was better 10 years ago."

Microsoft sells a PC wireless adapter for about $20.
