Over 42 games from Japanese publishers were announced at the Xbox Summit.

Microsoft is looking to make amends for what went so badly wrong with the Xbox in Japan, seeing the console failing quite miserably in the territory. One of the keys to success in Japan is support from Japanese publishers and Microsoft was very pleased to announce support from 37 Japanese publishers at the Xbox Summit on Monday. From these publishers, 42 games are currently in development. Below is the full list of games announced at the event which includes all the announced Japanese support.

Big list. Not enough RPG's. Only one title from Sega? And go ahead and sign me up for "Love Football" :sarcasm:.

I predict that MS will improve in Japan, of course this is a safe bet since MS has nowhere to go but up in that territory...

With their growth in North America, it looks like Japanese publishers are going to take them slightly more seriously this time, so they *should* do at least slightly better. However, it also looks like they are still getting primarily the games that Japan thinks the west would like anyhow so its not really a huge vote of confidence... But, it's still a small improvement from last time. The real question is whether this is *enough* to stir up interest in Japan for the Xbox 360. Thats a tough question.

Line up is kinda meh. You can just tell the support is going to drop as soon as the PS3 hits.

I second the not enough RPGs comment. Without a good supply of japanese RPGs, they are not going to make much headway.

Zoids for XBox360! I can now die!

FYI, Super Robot Wars is a huge franchise in Japan, and involve turn-based startegy. Basically, the game plots involve a mesh of as many gundam and mech series they can fit. The SNES offered some good outings for them.

Well Robot Wars is a somewhat popular title in Japan.

Actually, it is just going to be the next installment since the series has gone by "Super Robot Wars" since the SNES. You guys should really do a little reading if you absolutely have to critique this line-up of games. Most of them are big draws for Japanese players.

Fandango, if the game is even ported for the US market , it will obviously only appeal to people who like turned-based strategy games. That is a given. TBS is a niche market in the US already. But, I doubt it will since most American assjockies such as yourself have no brand recognition with the game title itself, or the content which is pulled from dozens of popular mech animes, and other mech games. Primarily due to the fact that the US, or EU has yet to see a game of the series make it across the water.

You could do much better to act less like an ignorant yokel.

Theres actually quite a lot of good stuff in there. Also note the possibility of a Tales game from Namco, that would be a huge draw (of course any rpg would be good). Anyway this announcement alone shows a big improvement over the support for xbox 1.

Of course when it comes down to it, the demand for Japanese developed games will be driven more by western audiences than the Japanese themselves. I except the 360 to do a bit better in Japan but ironically the best chance for increased success is to get Japanese more interested in Western games. Halo actually has a very hardcore fanbase over in Japan, and the % uptake of Live is a lot higher I think than most countries (obviously for a very small install base).
