New Uncharted Trailer

Uncharted's opening level offers a taste of what Uncharted looks like offering in abundance--an enjoyable action-adventure with intuitive controls backed up by a compelling storyline. The cover system works quite well, and it's clear right off the bat that taking intelligent cover will be an extremely important skill to master in Uncharted. While hand-to-hand combat seems well implemented, it looks like something which gamers will use mostly as a last resort as even in this opening level, opponents would often block attacks (not to mention leaving Nathan open to gunfire from other enemies). And even in this opening level, the strength of the story, characters, and the writing shines through. For example, when Nathan tries to convince Elena to fight the pirates instead of fleeing, he uses the line: "These guys don't take prisoners--well, at least male prisoners."

But probably what's most impressive are the graphics and animations in Uncharted. Simply put, the game looks great, with plenty of fine detail littering the game world and the characters. Animations are also quite lifelike--pirates flinch and bob their heads when under fire, while Nathan sports a wide range of realistic-looking movements.

This is definitely going to be a purchase the day I get a PS3. Which I sorta hope is soon. I mentioned it to my girlfriend and she shot me down until I started rationalizing how we are in the market for a high def movie player anyway and how the game-playing part of the PS3, when you negate the cost of the High-Def player we were going to buy anyway, is cheaper than the Wii.

I really don't have the cash to buy this or Ratchet right now, but I feel really compelled to do so as this is the type of game I want to see more of in the next gen. Two great, tightly designed (ie. non-sandbox), non-FPS single player centric titles.

There is always Gamefly, but, again, I really feel the need to "vote" with my dollar on these two.

Every time I see a trailer for this game I begin the same thought process.. I very nearly pulled the trigger not long ago, but then Sony went and began to fuck with backwards compatibility and I froze up.. I never did own a PS2 but there are a whole bunch of games from that era I had always kinda planned on playing on a PS3, so I'm not sure what to do anymore..

It looks very good to me, but I can't justify $60 for a single player only game, unless I know it will have a massive amount of replay value, or last a very long time (ala Oblivion or Mass Effect).

I'll definitely pick it up one day though, when it's cheaper.

Keep in mind you're watching a tiny 320x240 flash video.... I'm willing to bet the game looks a wee bit better than that, in full HD, without compression. Call me crazy.

Looks pretty damn impressive. Is this a single player only game? If so did they say whether it would be linear or more exploration "go your own path"? If it's the latter than this could push it from a renter for most people to a must buy.

Trailer looks good. But I'm worried, as I've been right to be for most of the PS3 exclusives. It looks like it plays like a clunky mix of Gears of War and Tomb Raider. I watched a Jetski video, and it just looked annoying. Get on jetski, drive for a second, stop, awkwardly aim, shoot, start again, stopped again. Crappy explosion. Repeat.

We'll see. So far only Ratchet looks like it's worth the exclusive money.

In other news (http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=86645), Uncharted uses a whopping 30% of the Cell's processing power and takes up 90+% of a Bluray disc.

He claims that they have almost filled up 91 percent of the capacity and they will also be utilzing the hard drive to pre-cache data from the Blu-ray disc. Also Balestra bigged up the power of the PS3 by stating that Uncharted (which should be very impressive) is only using 30 percent of the Cell processor power.

Wonderfully ambient orchestrations and really haunting melodies. I daresay you will have heard of Teardrop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fG8eQBSp9Ao)... a lot of their stuff carries a similar feel.

Anyway... WOW. What a trailer!

Very impressed and very much looking forward to this coming out.
