Episode 80
"Get Off My Lawn!" (http://www.evilavatarradio.com/?p=119)

In any given week there’s a good chance that Sony will be hoisted by their own petard, or will, at the very least, be subject to lengthy discussion of their shortcomings. We feel for them now and wish them the best, but we’ll be damned if we pass up a chance to take a swing or two ourselves. We’ve got a radio show (http://www.evilavatarradio.com/audio/Extra.Content80.mp3) to run here.

As if on cue, Brian Shiau and Jesse Divnich stop by to tell us how we can put our (virtual) money where our mouths are by participating at The simExchange (http://www.thesimexchange.com/). If you think your armchair analysis of the games industry is up to par with the professionals, this is your chance to make that clear. It’s free to play, and may prove to be an invaluable tool for aggregating the instincts of the enthusiast community.

We also stand amazed at the endless stream of content being added to SSB Brawl, cower in fear of the November release lists, and find out it’s possible to be on completely different sides of the piracy issue without having a meltdown. It’s an episode full of startling discoveries that must be heard to be believed!

Click here (http://www.evilavatarradio.com/audio/EAR.Episode80.mp3) for belief.

Yeah, I had the feed going yesterday, but when I stopped chatting I was playing TF2, and fearing for the world and the shockingly large number of mentally handicapped individuals.

We talked a little bit about the whole "playing with people you know" aspect in the extra content of the show (it's the first link in the post).

But, then I would have a lot less to piss and moan about.

I dunno man. You should give it a listen and see.

Playing with people you know is huge. It's the reason I'm getting COD4 for Xbox360 and not PC.

Playing pick-up games can be worthwhile, though. You just have to sort through a bunch of idiots to find someone you enjoy gaming with.

Was that James talking about playing WoW? Is he in the guild, if not he should be. I need him to start a toon on the Vash J PVP server, Horde side. And post his name in the guild thread.

I dunno that he does PVP. Regardless, I'm sure he'll see this and chime in. He used to be all over WoW till his PC crapped out. He still plays, but on his Mac Book now.

I realize that all you guys formed quite a bond during the CoD4 beta and probably played with each other from before that too. But couldn't you get the same community aspect going on the PC? I know we've got TF2 Thursdays going on the Evil Avatar server, why couldn't it work the same way with CoD? One might argue that the ability to host dedicated servers would make it even easier to play with people you know.

I recently bought a 360 for Halo 3 and Mass Effect, but I've always been a PC gamer and I just can't imagine playing a shooter like CoD with analog sticks. I guess I just don't see how wanting to play with people you know from a multi-platform gaming site would affect your decision of which platform to buy a game for. Though I suppose if it was specific people from said site, that could be it (or there's just WAY more people getting it for 360 for whatever reason).

How many people actually plan on getting it for PC? Just curious.

Man, I was there dude. Back in May right before I bought my 360, we shared the same views. Shit, by inference, it seems we share the same first name (Kevin)....

Anyway, FPS on analog stix, on the outside looking in, can be a very undesirable picture. Until you actually do it. Took me a quite a few hours of adjustment, but once I reached peak proficiency, it just didn't matter - It was just as fun.

I'm of the opinion that many of us here opt for the 360 version because of it's painlessness. It's really simple - cya guy from EvAv, send em an invite. You can form parties that will keep you & your friends together (a la Halo 3), and from my experiences from the beta, it's really a tightly put together MP element.

Go for it on the 360 man - you'll have lots more blokes to play with that you know..... You lose nothing, and gain tons by getting it on 360.

Well, I wouldn't say you lose nothing. Everyone plays at a higher level with a mouse and keyboard. The 360's ease of use means more to me than that, though. I'm willing to sacrifice better control for sitting on my couch and inviting my friends to my games easily.

So true. I guess I meant to say with lots of practice, it's possible for you to be just as swift witha couple stix as a mouse & keyboard. At that point, your losses are negligible.

I'm glad I was around on Monday to listen, but I didn't get to call in, as I was lovingly pulled away at around 8pm by my wonderful better half.

There's always the extra content that's totally fresh for everyone, both those that listened live and those who catch the podcast.

Good show, loved the intro. The whole "gaming with people you know" thing is why I joined Seasoned Gamers. The random d**kwad encounter rate is dopped to 1% with tight knit groups like SG, which is awesome.
