I love these inter system connectivity things. Sony has done an excellent job using both their portable platform and their console platform in some unique ways when combined together. Now 1UP has the scoop (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3163969) that the upcoming PSP game, Secret Agent Clank, will connect to the recently released and well received PS3 title, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.

The bad news is Insomniac Creative Director Brian Allgeier is being all hush hush about what exactly the two games will do together.

Secret Agent Clank is set to be released on the PSP sometime in 2008.

Even though it's better due to the wireless nature of the system, stuff like this was a waste of energy on the gamecube.

It'll be interesting to see what they do with it. I'm guessing it'll just unlock something in one game or the other.

this is actully sexy....if it enhances both games and is not just FLUFF.

/sarcasm on
HOPEFULLY ITS AS COOL AS POKEMON BATTLE REVOLUTION AND THE DS.

/sarcasm off

I have heard that with the new FF game this will be a key to opening things as well when the PSP Final Fantasy 13 game comes out after. Basically the PSP will unlock hidden items and quests from the PS3 game. Sony would sell a lot of games IMHO if they can do this with more series effectively.

He may not know. thanks to the online nature of console games nowadays that connectivity may not even be in rcftd right now, but added in a patch or dlc around the time the psp title ships.

In a time where Nintendo no longer does it, Sony hops onto the bandwagon? It is a waste of money on their part and Insomniac's part. You are catering to an incredibly small niche. People who own the PS3 and PSP version of a game, or game series, and care enough to link the two together.

Sony's PSP and PS3 connectivity is more than Nintendo could ever have done. Because of this, I can see game connectivity being used more often.

Cross promote, synergy and such, what else?

Paradigms! Look at the paradigms!

Wait...Secret Agent Clank? That is too cool. 'Bout time Clank got his own game!

And I disagree FlyingOrc. The GBA-GCN connectivity was often brilliant in nature, and sometimes made things much easier. But it was an overly difficult process and it wasn't really marketed well by Nintendo.

Shit, anything that produces Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords, one of the finest multiplayer games ever made is hardly wasted effort. Hopefully, with the DS and Wii, now wireless and both selling like hotcakes, we'll see some improvement and expansion in this idea. Cause if done right, it is utterly brilliant.

And it's good to see the Sony using this as well.

I like this. Sony should do more stuff like this to lend value to both systems, and to differentiate themselves from their competitors. I think it's a great idea, and I hope it's meaty enough to actually create more interest in the two platforms and the titles.

Good idea, Sony!

*now I have a headache.*

The thing is, the PSP is actually turning into a system worth owning. It's passed the critical mass point where people stop snickering and pointing when it's brought up in conversation and instead start drooling at the new games coming for it. It took them long enough...

It was worth owning from day one, if you wanted the rich media device Sony was selling.

It was worth owning from day one, if you wanted the rich media device Sony was selling.True. It was always a nice piece of hardware. I won't argue against that.

But coming at it from a pure gamer perspective, it has only really gained traction over the past few months. I think Jeanne D'Arc was the tipping point, at least in my case. That and the redesign.

That explains why it sat on my shelf for 4 months after I bought it at launch, collecting dust. Must have been those rich media capabilities.

That's a great game there, and if Clank lives up to those standards, I'll be happy. :)

Daxter basically made me excited for anything else that Ready At Dawn does. Such a great game.

Ready At Dawn is also doing the PSP God of War game, right?

If so...well, Ready At Dawn is quickly becoming one of my favorite developers.

I know that, I was more or less replying to Spigot's comment. But I didn't quote him, so the confusion is my fault. Sorry bout that.

Seriously? I see alot of games coming out with PSP functionality. I really don't see the appeal to it. I sold my PSP a couple months after I got it.

Both of my brothers had PSPs and sold them after not too long (within a year for both of them). I didn't blame them then.

Now you've got the hardware redesign and a bevy, BEVY, of deep and solid games coming for the system. It's no DS, but it's a nice backup :)

When did you get it? I've had mine since December '05 and I've used it A LOT ever since, probably more than any other system. Maybe I'm just nuts, but I love the thing. I'm just glad more people are finally seeing that it's a great little portable. :)

Confused? Hardly. I was drunk.

Anyway, I bought two copies of Chibi-Robo: Rark Patrol. Who loves Skip more now?

Yea I had it a couple months after release. I don't know, is it worth having both a DS and PSP this holiday?

I'd say the PSP has a better lineup this Fall, if only because I can only think of 3 DS games off of the top of my head in the Fall lineup of the DS that I'd actually want (FFXII Revenant Wings, Zelda, and Front Mission 1st). But yeah, if you do a lot of portable gaming, they're both well worth owning.

Quality, or no self control? I don't think I have the self control to resist Eye of Judgment, honestly, so I should shut up.

The second copy of PP is for a gift, actually, so I've got generosity. :p
