Remember that rumor (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37832) about a DS with a TV Tuner from a earlier this month? Well, it looks like there was some truth to that after all, as it's now been officially announced and dated for Japan (http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20071025/ds1seg.htm). It'll be out in Japan on November 20th for the price of 6800 Yen (about $59).

Wow, DS bunny ears? That's so useless it might be cool? Hopefully Nintendo will continue this vein of thought and really come out with a flash cart for the DS (and allow a movie player). I can tell you first hand having movies available on the DS is nice.

Oh, and this should be put in news...

I'd read books on the DS.

What is the storage capacity on a game card?

As would I. Honestly, I'm really surprised Nintendo hasn't released a cart that fits in the GBA slot (to leave the DS slot free for a game) that has PDA/media functionality. I'd snap that up in a heartbeat.

This is pretty nice, I'll definately get one of these for when I'm at work. I prefer the PSP tuner, but I've got a feeling Nintendo will get there's to Australia faster.

It has a nice two-page design, and they already had you doing it on Brain Age I...I thought it would be a neat idea.

While they might be a bit harder to find due to Nintendo's recent Hong Kong warehouse raid, a special card you can get allows you to read e-books on the DS. You are correct, it does work really well. Books, music, movies, homebrew games... the DS can do so much more with a flashcard.

Gotta love the rabbit ears. Don't think its worth while to watch tv on a ds :). I've watched a couple movies on an R4 and the quality is okay but still not worth watching on that small a screen, thats why they invented portable dvd players.

Friend had that back in the day, here is hoping this one is of better quality and with the technology of today does not require a antenna that is miles long lol. However overall if done right I may get one of these for my ds.

The question is: Is this digital ready, and will these still work when everything goes digital in a few years?

My R4 doesn't play video smoothly at 20fps (full screen) so it's not going to be a media player in my opinion. I hope this TV Tuner can do better.

This would be AWESOME for the kids on road trips. Games or tv on the DS, videos on my car DVD player. Game, set, match; I'm good to go! Bring it to the US, please!

Supposedly Nintendo licensed some tech from PalmSource (now ACCESS) just before the DS launch. Havent heard a peep since.

I would definitely consider getting this for my DS, it's one of those things that could actually be useful in an emergency, or even watching TV on road trips, it's cheap, the video quality would be reasonable, and with the DS' battery life, I imagine you can probably get at least 4-6 hours on it.

Alternatively, I'd like to see this device also do radio as well.

I'd get it because it would be easy to hide at work.

And wow, I am really impressed with the battery life. I think I have charged it once ever, and I have had it at least a month now. The "please charge me" light didn't even come on, I just thought it would be a good idea.

The rabbit ears are for Halloween. The Antenna was built in from the start.

I think the concept is cool, but I'm pretty sure the reception won't be too good.
