News from Pocket Gamer suggests a possibility for a mobile version of Halo to come to fruition. After the validation of the much speculated rumor of a version of Halo that was under development for the Nintendo DS by IGN's own Matt Cassamassina and a fellow Bungie employee, an online petition has been created to get the game released as a finished product. With all of the hype surrounding Halo 3 at the moment, it would most likely be a big seller to have a portable Master Chief to take with you on those long trips away from your 360.

At this point I don't think a petition is going to change much.

It's not like they pulled the plug on it because someone thought it wouldn't sell well. There's too much politics involved.

Edit: That's one of the worst petitions I've seen. Sounds like some 13 year old Halo fanboy took 2 seconds to make it.

Seriously, from what I've read, Halo DS was basically a proof of concept, and simply a mod of that shitty Goldeneye game that came out on DS. I don't think it ever had a chance of existing, in the first place.

Seeing how I never played Halo 1, I can not say I am excited about a Halo DS, but to be fair Halo DS would give MP:H a run for it's money. The DS could handled a Halo game, could be fun.
Sorry gentlemen online petitions DO NOT work. I will give you an example to assist my stance on the matter: Earthbound 0 and Earthbound 2 !!!

That is a really bad petition, and the footage they showed was really bad as well. I mean, it looked like Halo and was portable, but as far as I could tell that is about all that could be positively be said about it.

Well, you have to have 32 signatures before you can have any more. I can't help but think of the Devil May Cry 4 petition though. That's funny stuff there.

I would also play Halo on the DS. Sounds like fun.

Would Halo really be any actual fun on a DS? The things I enjoy about Halo really wouldn't translate over to the DS very well, if at all. The large scale fighting, frantic action, etc, would flounder, IMO.

A Metroid-style Halo wouldn't be fun. Slowing the pace down to accomodate the controls (not to mention that MC would have to scan every bad guy with his visor) would make Halo, well, not Halo.

Now, a Halo Tactics game? That might work- Halo Wars looks to be shaping up.

They've already made their money back on Halo3 for 360 why dumb it down to DS. Its 'only on xbox' for a reason, add in more ports and you'll have sony screamin for a piece to make up for losing the GTA exclusive rights.

Have you play it with a thumb strap?

I've got a different experience of Metroid Hunter than you, since
i've play it i think FPS can be good on the DS.

Edit: I have try it without a thumb strap and i found it unplayable.

Now there is an idea, make a Halo like Rebelstar Tactical Command and I would take notice.

After seeing the "proof of concept", it just doesn't look like it would be that great. Also, like everyone else has been pointing out, online petitions don't do jack shit. How well did that Devil May Cry 4 petition go?

I was in the same boat, as a thumb strap defender myself, but I couldn't finish Metroid Hunters. It hurt my hands like no other DS game has, and I was playing it on a Lite (actually tried it on my Phatty and it was even worse).

The best part is how the petition is directed to Matt at IGN, "to finish making Halo DS".

Now I don't know much about the DS programming or IP licensing skills of a journalist like Matt, but I don't think he would do a very good job.

What was the DMC4 petition about?

Halo DS could definitly work. just think! The L and R buttons would function as the right and left triggers, double touch the screen to melee....

I dunno though if Metriod looked as it did on the DS only months after the DS launch I am sure something impressive could be put together. Imagine the online death matches on the go.
