It looks like the international trailer for Serenity (http://www.uip.nl/Pictures/seren/trailer2.mov) slipped under the radar. I found it buried in this story (http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=20781) at Aint-It-Cool-News (http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/) and it's worth watching if it's your bag.

Thanks to A|a for also submitting this news item. The additional submission is why this thread got bumped from the Movies, Books and Comics forum to the main page.

Its part of the way the show was made. The basic premise is cowboys in space. Plus these are no ordinary shotguns. They look like shotguns and seem to do the exact same amount of damage as shot guns. But when you reload them, they make nifty swooshing sounds.. Obviously they are from the future ;-).

Because they still have poor people in the future and they can't all afford lightsabres?

This is destined to be the best film of the year, easily.

FYI, last night (Friday 15) Sci-Fi channel started showing the episodes of "Firefly." The will air the episodes in order (yay) every Friday at 6PM CDT (7EDT) presumably up through the debut of the movie on September 30 (haven't checked my calendar to see if that works out).

Regardless, if you don't get the trailer, try watching the series.

If you haven't rented/bought the DVD box set of Firefly...DO IT NOW. It's easily the best show that's been on TV in a long while. Characters are written great and the actors involved are all par excellence. Premise was awesome, too, and was just starting to get really, really interesting when the show was cancelled. Though I miss it dearly, it may be better that it moved to a film medium as there are less boundries there.

I was someone who wanted firefly to get cancelled when it replaced Dark Angel ( that and the other show hmm about the guy who didn't know who he was but was a genius or something ) Anyway I rented the DVD and man was I a moron , the show simply ownz..great cast , Nathon Fillion is great as Mal , Inara is so friggin hot , Adam Baldwin is his usual nutty but fun self..I love in the first episode last night when Adam ( Jayne ) insults the doctor and Kaylee and Mal makes him leave the dinner table and when he is gone the doctor asks Mal what is Jaynes role on the ship Mal answers " Public relations " I cracked up and its the 3rd time I seen that episode. Just a great show.

I'm going to see it opening night, then the next night, and probably the next night after that. :p

I saw an advance screening of "Serenity" last month. No spoilers but the movie rocks. Convert as many people can over to Firefly so they'll watch Serenity as well. Remember, Universal has agreed to greenlight a trilogy ONLY if the first movie does well.

Yea, just saw Batman Begins and the trailer was played before it. Looked really cool, I hope it does do well so they launch a TV show again, I still think TV is the best medium for this show (basically anything that wants to do a decent amount of character development).

A new Firefly TV series will never happen. Fox owns the rights for it for ten years.

Fox can sell things, you know :). In the end, if the movie is successful, they'll swallow their shame in order to make their pile of cash larger, I think (although admittedly canceling the show in the first place does not bode well).

Fox owns the rights, but apparently is willing to license them. Sci-Fi channel is showing Firefly on Fridays.

I've watched this about a dozen times so far. September 30th is WAY too far away.

Every person I lent my Firefly DVDs to fell in love with the series. Some were hesitant after the first few episodes because of the Western influence but afterwards they loved the characters and writing. The show was amazing that they managed so much characterization within fourteen episodes. Imagine if Firefly had made it to a third season by now?

One question: why didn't the guy from Law & Order and G Vs. E play the assassin in the movie? He was awesome on the last episode of the show. Shame really...

Gun technology can only go so far. It's been estimated that we've reached the limit on small arms technology.

Because his character is slowly floating though space and has most likely been exhumed by a nearby star by now?

:)

He was a brilliant actor though...

come on, I thought the reason that they didn't show him dying was because he was coming back...

I think it's also because guns such as these are cheaper and more reliable when being used on the fringes of the frontier. There was one guy in Heart of Gold with a laser gun, but it crapped out on him when he really needed it. ;)

Somehow all my friends have managed to get to pre-screeners. Bastards. They will die in their sleep. After giving me their tickets to the next screener.

Mine is an evil laugh...

I think Jolee was a little too nuts for the movie. This assassin in the movie seems to be a little more with it.
Though Im so excited!

Yeah, cause Buffy and Angel (which I loved by the way) got unfairly cancelled after half a season, didn't they?

Besides, with both and Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz not being keen to return to the roles of Buffy and Angel, they'd suck. Though if Whedon's newfound Hollywood mega-director status (crosses fingers) allows him to make a groundbreaking noir Angel movie, I'll be first in line to watch it.

I can picture it now...

Sin Angel. :D (which would rock incidently but come on... Angle and co had no chance of surviving the Wolfram and Hart attack at the end of the series).

Levity aside... this film needs to hurry up, the deputy editor of my sistermag managed to get a peek at a pre-screening... he loves it... I kill him. :D
