Dark Horizons (http://www.darkhorizons.com/) has posted the exclusive world first premiere of the final logo (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/shield.php) for Superman Returns. The movie is due June 30, 2006.

I still think the logo they used in the original Christopher Reeve movie better, but each to his or her own.

Heh, that confused me for a minute there. I had to go to IMDB to make sure that wasn't Charlie O'Connell (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0640039/) playing Superman.

Uhm, that synopsis on the linked page makes no sense given the age of the actors... are they really going to set this after the previous movies?

Supposedly there's some sort of no-doubt-tortured explanation for Superman looking younger when he returns to Earth than he did when he left, although I'm not sure how they're going to explain Lois.

I was always under the impression that this movie, as with Batman Begins, wasn't connected to the older movies. Can anyone confirm this for sure one way or another?

See, I thought it was part of the continuation of the series, hence the title. I could be very wrong in this as I've sort of only been half-following its development as I'm a) not really that big of a Superman fan in the slightest and b) I'm still angry with Singer for potentionally dooming the best superhero films (IMO) in recent memory.

But yeah, they would certainly have to explain a few things as the characters don't seem to have aged much. I dunno. Perhaps he just returns after never having been there in the first place as he is Superman after all and I believe it to be within his realm of powers to pull something like that off. Albeit badly.

The new Supes flick uses the 1978 film as a "vague history", essentially meaning that it doesn't contradict what goes on in that movie. In the new film, Superman had been around for a while, saved the world, etc, then disappeared for a few years. The world moved on without him, then he reappears on the scene. Ever read the graphic novel Kingdom Come? Think elements of that.

I have read Kingdom Come. Hmm... interesting. I guess we'll see for sure when it comes. They could do some interesting stuff with that.

This also means I should probably go back and watch the old films again finally.

You know what I hate about the internet? People concluding that something isn't news regardless of its potential interest to others, and yet instead of ignoring it and moving on, they go and post comments about how it is a waste of their time, further wasting their and my time.

[and yes i realize the bit of irony here]

Yeah, it's called, "Comic characters never age unless it's appropriate for the story."
In this case, it's not appropriate for the characters to have really aged all that much...so it doesn't really matter.

I know I won't be losing any sleep over the fact that younger actors are playing characters that were played by actors far older than them.
