Now while I admit that I have yet to complete the original Psychonauts, I have completed all of Tim Shafer's previous games, so there. This, of course, comes as good news.

Although I loved Tim Shafer's other games, I couldn't get into Psychonauts. The game just suffered from a little too much collect-itis. It was like Rare got hold of the game or something.

Ditto on the toning down the platforming part. I always appreciated the adventure/storytelling sides of Tim's previous games, but the platforming side... not so much.

The new game informer has a big cover story of brutal legend. Im just stoked about all musicians lending their voices. Jack Black (Tenacious d), Lemmy from Motorhead, Rob Halford from Judas Priest, Ronnie James Dio from Sabbath and more. Its awesome to see a spoof on a music genre get so much respect and backing by the people from that time period and who made that music. And a guitar solo attack that actually melts the enemies faces off? Im so in...

Actually, current speculation is that this means they are simply updating the Psychonauts page.

Note that the graphic is taken directly from Psychonauts, it's not new.

Sitting back thinking about what this could mean, only one thing comes to mind. Point and click adventure for the DS.

EDIT: Also, why would they be working on website content for a game that has been out for quite some time? Doesn't add up. The exact image from the game is a bit of a wrench though.

I apologize. I was playing Halo, saw this briefly, and thought the coming soon referred to Brutal Legend (which was a big duh for most). I apologize Violent, and to anyone else who I have affronted.

I predict Psychonauts on PSP/DS. IT WILL BE THE WINNNNN

AND IF DOGEN ISN'T PLAYABLE I WILL HUNT DOWN TIM SCHAFER AND EAT HIS SOUL

For the longest time their jobs page has had many jobs saying "For Double Fine's San Francisco development studio!" and a few jobs that didn't. I've already taken it as a given that they've got a second team working on something. Psychonauts 2? Interesting to think.

/edit: Actually, I'm betting a port. Likely Wii or DS, given the numbers those systems have done. Regardless, I'm happy (and hoping,) DF will be getting some more gamer love soon.

I've recently re-bought this game over steam to enjoy it at max res and setting (previously had it for the Xbox), and also have a way so I'll never lose it (can just re-download it anytime).

I just hope that this new project is not a port to a hand held system, or the wii, but something entirely new in the psychonauts universe :)

Although I'm expecting it to be another port... :(

It's nice to see a sequel to Psychonauts in the works.

I love Tim Schafer's work, and sadly I haven't played Psychonauts yet. I need to get a copy. :)

Am I the only one who never got into Psychonauts? The gameplay of it just wasn't that great, and I eventually moved on to other stuff.

Well, as a game to game port of it, no. I bet that it won't be the original game turned DS, more like a side story. Maybe involving Fuller, Sascha Nein, or the Brazillian gal. I would kill for a Dogen based game though. Squirrel Annihlator!

I didn't play it but I've played a demo. Seemed like a tired platformer with a weird art style but I guess there's more to it.

I didn't play it but I've played a demo. Seemed like a tired platformer with a weird art style but I guess there's more to it.That was the one problem with Psychonauts. It was Schaefer's first attempt at a platformer and the lack of inspiration shows if you approach it as such.

If you come at it from the angle of an adventure game that happens to use platformer mechanics as its interface, it's a much better game. And trust me, once you play more than a little bit near the beginning, the brilliance really starts to shine.

Excellent! Psychonauts is one of my top 5 games of all time and probably the best platformer I have ever played. Just loved it!

Yeah, I just haven't been able to get into platformers for the last few years, but Psychonaughts' blend of adventure and platforming was tons of fun. Actually one of the very very few games that I 100%-ed in a long time.
