I wasted so many, many quarters on that game. Sit-down or stand-up version, it didn't matter. It was just so much freaking FUN.
Good times.

Ah! That was a great game from my childhood. I hope they do bring it back.

If I failed to mention this previously...
Go buy Ace Combat 5!
(And buy the Strategy Guide and then send me $5.00.)

Other than a title, what features of After Burner do you think they're ressurecting exactly? What a snore. I want Shenmue. Or, wait for it, yes, a Seaman sequel.

I want a new Afterburner, unrealistic hyper fast flying and that Danger Zone song.

Man, I used to LOVE Afterburner in the arcades. I would readily welcome a redone version that did justice to the name. :)

They already showed some clips of it in their E3 presentation video. It looks sweet. Considering how much fun I've had with Outrun 2, I'd definitely pick up an updated Afterburner.

I'm surprised it took so long for someone to mention the E3 Next Level video. It had Afterburner 4, or whatever you want to call it, in it and it looked perfect. Fast flying, barrel rolls, shooting down crap, and the song.
And that "Sega makes murder porn" thing. Please stop quoting PA unless you know what you're talking about, because it was funny for a month or so after they said it, now it's been used to death. Not all Sega franchise revivals have been murderizations of what we used to know.
The good revivals:
Ecco the Dolphin
Panzer Dragoon Orta
Outrun 2
Gunstar Super Heroes (looks good)
The bad:
Sonic Heroes
Shining Tears
Shining Force Neo
The terrible:
Shadow the Hedgehog
Another good thing that Vectorman game they were making a few years back. In that how it was cancelled, because it was looking like utter terrible. A good move on Sega's part.
So, it's been about equal good and bad. But the bad has been restricted to only 2 franchises, both of which I will be ignoring pretty much all games for until they come out with true sequels (Shining Force IV, Sonic Adventure 3 or something).

Bleh, M.A.C.H 3 was too annoying, although looked nice... ala Dragon's Lair.

I could have sworn I saw Afterburner shown by Sega at E3 (behind closed doors video that was taken).
From that it seems safe to say that it is being made.

They should make it a prequel and call it 'Before After Burner'.

Sega makes murder porn.
I don't know what this means.
Anyway, I think Afterburner is one of those franchises you leave alone. It is like that old girlfriend that you think was super hot...then you see her 5 years later and she sags in the wrong places and she has put on a few pounds...
It will never be like it was back in the day for that franchise...
