Neverwinter Nights 2.FR (http://www.neverwinternights2.fr/modules/news/article.php?storyid=343) has let the cat out of the bag with regards to an upcoming adventure pack for NWN 2.

Developed by Ossian Studios, Neverwinter Nights 2: Mysteries of Westgate is the first full featured Adventure Pack available from Atari. Set in the infamous Forgotten Realms city of Westgate, players find themselves in possession of a powerful but cursed treasure that threatens to destroy them. Linked to the underworld organization known as the Night Masks, the treasure will draw players into a city-spanning clash between warring factions. Players must choose their allegiance in order to break the curse and ultimately uncover a plot that threatens Westgate itself.

“Neverwinter Nights 2 and the influence of this phenomenal brand continues to grow through the tremendous work done by the committed and highly active fan community who have mastered Obsidian’s toolset to create deeply involving new adventures,” said Mathias Hautefort, Executive Vice President of publishing and production, Atari. “Our successful work with independent developer Obsidian in creating the original game is now being enhanced by our collaborative efforts with these highly talented and emerging studios such as Ossian Studios, and the result is nothing less than the fans would expect of Neverwinter Nights: high production values, engrossing storylines, and long, involving campaigns.”

From the creators of the critically-acclaimed Neverwinter Nights module, Darkness over Daggerford, Neverwinter Nights 2: Mysteries of Westgate will feature a non-linear, open-ended single-player campaign with numerous side quests covering more than 15 hours of game play. Atari’s new Adventure Pack will also feature 3 new companions; an entirely new underground sewers tile set themed after the seedy underbelly of Westgate; a host of new monsters to do battle with, including some truly epic foes; an exciting new and original musical score; as well as thousands of new lines of professionally recorded dialogue.

Sweet, Darkness over Daggerford was an exceptional module for NWN (and it was free to boot !); hopefully this should be just as good.

I have high hopes for this one too. Darkness Over Daggerford was originally intended to be a premium module for NWN1 but I think it was cancelled right before it was finished.

After playing the game at a friends I (as well as other NWN players I know who were there) have warmed up to the sequel. It might not be as good but it's still good, so this is welcome news!

I actually enjoyed Mask of the Betrayer, in spite of all the problems(awful camera, hideous character models, numerous bugs introduced in the original NWN2 campaign, etc...). I'll definitely give this a try when it comes out.

The original campaign was very bad indeed, but the expansion made up for it, despite all the bugs, framerate problems, camera, etc.

Really? I quite enjoyed it. To each their own I so pose.

I thought the original campaign in NWN2 was great, especially compared to the crappy one that shipped with NWN. I need to get around to picking up the expansion at some point.

I'm playing through the expansion right now. I swear I spend more time trying to decide what character i'm going to play than actually playing it. I've built at least 3 different monks, a pure palladin, a pure cleric, a cleric/stormlord, and now a pally/stormlord that is completely badass. Man are some of the fights in MotB tough!

I've never gone multiplayer in NWN2 (or 1 or for that matter) -- any fun to be had?

How does the custom campaign and mod scene for 2 compare with the original?

I find that playing any "squishy" class is a tough proposition in NWN2. Given that you're usually out front leading the group, grabbing the first aggro every time sucks balls. That's why I usually roll with a super high dex or high armor character.

Kem0sabe don't tell me you play as the tank, then switch to your own character for every encounter, do you?

As to KingGorilla's question, I actually started with NWN2, played that through then went to NWN1. Problem is I couldn't get over the graphics on 1 -- they're just too outdated even if the gameplay is good. 2 just implemented improvements interface-wise that I can't go backwards from. Bottom line, if you can get over the camera issues and just pick an angle, I find NWN2 to be a blast. The mod scene has been active, but I haven't tried multiplayer in online worlds at all.
