It wasn't a bluff. Bungie's new automated banning system has removed 2550 players (http://www.bungie.net/News/Story.aspx?link=662AF093-41D8-45FD-9298-895C686B48C2) from combat. Anyone using hacked profiles, modified content, etc. are automatically banned from the game. Users still trying to cheat using network glitches etc. are being manually banned from the game.
Good work Bungie. Friggin cheatin' bastards. Scum!

now if they could just do something about the little kids who swear like sailors and fly around and yell look how high I am instead of trying to get the flag.

LOL.. I've not played Halo on Live (I dont have an XBOX). Are the "little kids" that bad? I guess its the same as on most Online games :)

Ha haa haaaarr eat that modders 2550 of them banned. Fantastic :D
I'm only a 18 at the moment though so i haven't experienced it personally. I've heard the real cheaters are higher up in the levels 25 -> 40ish.

Heh, well it's not the modding that MS has the problem with. "Just don't bring it on Live!" I believe was their exact quote.

Personally I haven't had that much of an issue with it. Every now and then I do run into people who sound (and act) like ten year olds. But most games are good, and most of the people show pretty good sportsmanship. There are the bad apples, the ones who go around team killing, screaming, etc...But there aren't that many of them. And if you simply get everyone on your team/in the game to leave them feedback, they'll get banned before too long.

Maybe Bungie plays Halo 2 and listens for people screaming into the mike. "ARRRRGGHH!! I CAN'T BELIEVE I DIDN'T GET THE SWORD!!! I'M ON 'ROIDS!!!"

The Xbox 360 can. So you best clean yourself up or give up gaming, good sir.

Could you get an MP3 of you screaming that up on your blog?

It says that the banhammer is self-aware.
Skynet on the loose.
OH FINALLY! Maybe now I can actually enjoy playing Halo2 on XBL again.

I love that last one. It is like the dork who grabs the attack copter in a bf2 match, then tells you to jump out just cause he wants to do aerobatics the entire round.

I don't know why but i'm actually kind of shocked that there were that many.

Yeah it's pretty sad. I might have hobbies others might find dumb, but hacking a game and playing online to fuck with people is mind boggling. I mean, you have to fucking hack the game in the first place which I don't believe is an easy task.
