Youve obviously have not researched how much this company is actually worth, Sony is not just a electronics manufacturer, they own Columbia Tri-Star. Controlling shares of MGM,CBS,Universal and BMG music. They also Revenue about 72 billion dollars a year. :)

Now, how are they doing THIS YEAR?According to the article this is the 4th quarter of their fiscal year which just ended on June 30th. "This year" just started 21 days ago.

Either way, I want to know how well the Gaming division is doing: the company as a whole profiting doesn't mean anything to me. They talk about Windows and Office, but not the Xbox.

i grabbed them directly from the sony.com site if you would bother to look into the buisness and investments area. They have all the reports on spending and what their net and loss of everything laid out (for example, they expect the new Sony BGM music joint venture to decline in profit just for exampleof course).

Seriously. It was old weeks/months ago. Xbox people love to use it though. Remember hearing that factual phrase, "People make fun of others to compensate for their own low self-esteem?" In other words, they do it to make themselves feel better. MS fans want the Xbox to win this round, but they fear being slipped the donkey rod again. Hell, I think Sony fans fear MS sneaking up behind and tossing their salad, too.

That's why we make fun of Allard looking like a gay pirate, Kutaragi being a crazy man, Sony being a den of lies and thievery, and MS being a corporate whore by buying/eating up development houses in an attempt to beat Sony. It's all bullshit, inborn fear of the "bad guy" winning. Hopefully Nintendo will stalk into the fray and knock both their heads together.

Nintendo doesn't have a bad strategy...except with the lack of HD support. They are trying to live on their strength (library of old games) and be the least expensive of the lot. The 'Cube actually made them money on the hardware if I am to believe reports and it was actually pretty sweet graphically. I think that a lot of gamers (western gamers) have publicly dismissed Nintendo will keep one eye open for the Revolution when it comes out. Nintendo has made some unfortunate choices which place it third in the videogame market now, but I think they are still a force in gaming.

(In the US, analog broadcasting (normal broadcasting) will lose its licensing by 2008. Which means that normal tvs will no longer function and everyone will have to upgrade to HD. Cable stations will no longer be required to braodcast any stations in analog either. The government will then sell off the analog spectrum for a fat wad of cash...and some will remain for emergency channels. So, about 2 1/2 years into the lifecycle of Revolution, everyone will have an HD set, but Rev won't take advantage of that. Unfortunately, this is the type of short sighted thinking that has been prevalent with the Big N latetly.)
