This week's Xbox Live Arcade releases have been announced.

First up is Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/s/speedball2xboxlivearcade/default.htm) from Empire Interactive. The game is an update of the classic title with enhanced graphics and online play. It'll set you back 800 MS Points.

Next up is Every Extend Extra: Extreme (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/e/e4xboxlivearcade/default.htm). And interesting note about the title is it supports "user created content" via Xbox Live. No word exactly what the content is, or exactly how it works. EEEE will cost you 800 MS Points.

What's changed for EEEE? The demo for EEE on the PSP really turned me off from the game, it just didn't feel right. Man, it looks weird typing all of those Es.

I was gonna submit this but lacked a good source. I always feel uncomfortable when I get word of something and cannot share it. So anyone actually know if the original EEE was any good?

EEEE, I'm curious about that one. I loved Lumines so I'll give that a whirl.

Finally some quality on XBLA again, last weeks PQ rocked as well.

Speedball 2 = Instant purchase for me, damn I loved the original...

I had no idea Speedball 2 was coming to the 360, I thought it was PC only! Great news, I just have to get this.

Also curious about EEEEEEEEE, as the screenshots seem to exhibit the type of esoteric approach that I can't help but be drawn to.

Anyone enjoy the gameplay of this on a previous platform?

I found it WAY to hard, and even more so; random, to enjoy (on PSP).

There's more. From Joystiq:
Also joining the two full games is some news on older Xbox Live Arcade titles. First, Band of Bugs has a new expansion pack out titled "Ninja Sticks of Fury" which, we presume, will be the same 250 points ($3.12) as their previous expansions.

And finally, Lumines Live! will get two "skins" free for all XBL Gold members through November 14th. Don't like free? They've also got a "Rockin' Holiday Pack" available for 400 MS Points. If you're thinking, "Hey, that's great Joystiq but I was turned off by the game's initial pricing" we're pleased to relay the news that, as of Wednesday morning at 9am GMT, Lumines Live! will be permanently discounted to 800 MS Points. How about now?
Good news for those who didn't get Lumines Live! earlier

Can we just shorten it to E4? Or maybe E^4? Christ, too many Es.

I am intrigued by Speedball though, will definently try out the demo.

And damn, nice catch there Norse. I might be tempted to finally throw down for Lumines now.

Speed ball 2? Fuck yeah!

Now do Archon!

I tried EEE on PSP (and PC) and I thought it was horrible.
I came into it expecting to like it, too!

My understanding is the Every Extend Extra didn't tag on the Extreme moniker just for kicks. I heard something about the game's mechanics being given more features, making chains in the hundreds and even thousands possible. Might be fun, but I've still got Puzzle Quest and Orange Box to complete (these two games maybe the best values of the year).

Oh...Archon...how I loved thee and hated thee at the same time...actually, I hated my brother and his ability to kick my butt with the unicorn or banshee!

Now, the unicorn kicked some serious ass... but I always thought the banshee was like the lamest character.

Too true. I also had Archon II: Adept, an awesome game too!

I've heard legends that an Archon III existed, apparently only as a fan product though. now, lets get Mail Order Monsters worked on too!

Oh yeah!

Was mail order monsters the one where you could put different floppy disks in and it would give you different creatures as a result?

You have not been irritated in an Archon game until you've played a master of the Knight/Goblin. I had a friend who was ridiculously good at them, and barely a game went by when I didn't want to murder him.

Space Horse (sp? Space H.O.R.S.E.) wasn't bad, but it didn't capture the feeling of the original...damn, now I have the theme in my head. Would be an awesome Live game..with camera so you can curse the others for pushing the price of energy up!

You guys should be able to find the (free) PC version of Every Extend online pretty easily. The PSP version wasn't very compelling to me, though it's a nice twist on shooters.

By far the only honorable way to kill the Dragon. His slowness was his downfall.

Best character though? If you had the balls to bring out the Wizard or sorceress. Unicorn might be better. Teleport him over to back row of the enemy and carve your way up their back.

Now, if you figured out to play / master the Phoenix, then let me know. I hated playing that guy. His only use seemed to be against goblins.

god, I loved that game.

But, go SB2!

I'll try the demo of E^4. I tried the demo that was on the Lumines 2 UMD and was both intrigued and confused at the same time.

Of course, that's if I still have my 360 and it's still working at that time.

Speedball 2 is a no-brainer so long as they don't screw with the basic game itself.

I'll be getting E4. I enjoyed E2 on the PC, and look forward to seeing Q's take on it. And since it lets you bring in your own soundtrack, I'll be pumping in the original music from E2. I love that song.

Speedball will probably be my first Xbox Live purchase - it will take my points virginity, most likely not so gently!

Archon Ultra came out in the mid 90s, but it was pretty awful and not even remotely fun. Very sad.

Personally, I'd instantly pay any amount of points for some Star Control II Super Melee on Xbox live...

Archon Ultra was just a remake of the original Archon, and for that, it wasn't bad. I didn't mind it that much.

And speaking of favorite units - Manticore all the way.

So when is Toejam & Earl coming to XBLA?

Yeah, I know...but hey, I figure if they put Sonic, Sonic 2, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage 2 on XBLA, I can hope for T&E

Archon! Me wants. I loved the wraith (or was it called banshee?) The invisibile one in any case. Both players using them against each other was soooo much fun. :)

For those of y ou who haven't played, Mail Order Monsters used the same basic fighting engine as Archon, except yuou could customize the abilities of your creature by buying abilities and configuring them.

Excellent.

They screwed with the basic game itself. It's in 3D now and it looks like Super Mario Strikers. Play the demo before you buy.
