Monday again. game over for the weekend (not that it will stop me gaming). What did you guys actually play this weekend? Great moments to share? Your life still dominated by Halo 3? Share with the rest of the EvAv community.

I mostly played Blue Dragon, starting to get interesting now. Also PuzzleQuest VS mode is a great game to play with your girlfriend. levelling up while playing VS is awesome.

Metroid Prime 3. Getting so close to the end now. I'm sad to see it wrap up. I'll have to play it again on a harder difficulty. :D

Since my 360 went the way of the red death, I've been playing FFXII on the ps2 and Hellgate London beta on the Pc

Finished Portal. Started on Episode 2. Played a little bit of TF2 and a whole lot of Halo 3 multiplayer. To me, the defining difference between those two experiences is the matchmaking. As a newcomer to Team Fortress, it's is almost completely inaccessible to me. With Halo 3 multiplayer, I'm evenly matched with my opponents almost every single time no matter my skill level.

I also tried out the COD4 and UT3 demos, both of which look fantastic.

Planned: MK:A (Wii), NHL08 (360), Classic Gaming
Played:
MK:A (Wii) - I got to the final boss of Konquest mode. He's ridiculously cheap, as expected, but I've beaten Blaze in arcade mode so I just need more time. I'm not at all a fan of the MK: DA fighting engine, but for some reason I'm finding Armageddon a lot of fun. Konquest mode is a relatively well fleshed out brawler.

NHL08's default controls - the hyped new "shot stick" - are crap. I switched to 'classic' controls after a couple of games. I also suck at the game, having started my franchies 0-3, and got my butt kicked online.

Sadly, no classic gaming other than a little Capcom Arcade Classics on PSP. I meant to fire up the 5200 but never got around to it.

Portal - taking it in short bursts...a couple of levels at a time.

Puzzle Quest - boy, a "I'll just play for a few minutes" quickly becomes "Wow, my day is gone"

NHL 08 - working through a season with a buddy. Great co-op game. Though, he's a puck hog :o

Prey - came in the mail the other day, just plowing through it....meh...quite easy corridor shooter so far.

Wanted to play some Episode 2, but didn't get around to it.

I tried getting into Bioshock but it's just not happening. I'm afraid to say that game may have lost it's interest to me. I really want to...but I can't. Picross, OTH, has made me its complete and utter bitch. In fact, that sound that it makes when you pick the wrong square now appears in my mind when I'm not playing the game. It has yet to appear in a dream, but it will.

And thanks to GameFly's usual suckalicious shipping, I didn't see Heavenly Sword in my mailbox. I hope it arrives before I leave town. I'd like to get at least a couple of good hours in. :(

Planned Halo 3, CoH: Opposing Fronts.

Played: Halo 3, CoH: Opposing Fronts, and Re-installed Windows Vista (switched from 32 bit to 64 bit and a new hard drive as my old one was failing). When that was done I re-installed and re-patched Battlefield 2 and played a few hours of that. Man I love that game.

Finished Portal and HL2:E2, and also played the demos for Unreal Tournament 3 and COD4. Portal has to be my game of the year so far.

COD4 has got to have the best graphics I've have ever played in a game. Is it just my settings or does COD4 look way better than Unreal Tournament 3?

I had the exact same reaction to Bioshock and I pushed on for around 7 hours in before I just accepted that it was not my thing and tossed it on Half.com to sell.

I also loved Picross, but it became a bit of a pain when the puzzles got so big you had to scroll.

Puzzle Quest is where I spent most of my gaming weekend and I don't regret it at all. It's great pick up and play fun, but also gives you a rewarding sense of progression.

I thought they both looked fantastic. UT3 seemed to have more detail, but COD4 had a lot more effects, such as lighting and smoke. Also, some of the levels in UT3 were a lot more detailed than others. IMO UT3 moves too fast for you to really have time to appreciate the visuals too.

Planned: Jeanne d'Arc, Everyday Shooter, and a ton of 360 demos.

Played: Jeanne d'Arc got the weekend off, since I've been playing the game pretty heavily over the past week. I did play a crapload of Lumines in it's place, and destroyed my high score on the original Lumines. I got in a little Everyday shooter, but not nearly as much as I would've liked. I played through a few 360 demos: Bioshock (awesome), Ace Combat 6 (meh), Beautiful Katamari (meh), F.E.A.R. (meh), and Blue Dragon (meh). I also started Lost Planet, and despite some sluggish feeling controls, I love it.

Tropico: Mucho Macho Edition

Really wish they'd make a new Tropico game one of these days. I guess PopTop got joined into Firaxis a couple years back, but you'd think they could fit a Tropico game in between Civs.

I'm leading the resistance in City 17 (for the third time) before I plan on tackling the Episodes. So most of this weekend was spent playing HL2 once again to whet the proverbial appetite.

Jumped into Halo 3 when I received an invite from Shadowstorm, only to find a crazy game of Spaceballs occurring on Valhalla. Craziness, man...pure craziness....

Played through HL:EP2 and Portal. Was going to do some TF2 with you guys but I tried running around in the dev commentary maps and some textures (water and the commentary bubbles) were messed up. The water (if that's what it was supposed to be) was a bunch of pink gridlines and the commentary bubbles were all white. Did this happen to anyone else?

Also, since that was borked and I didn't feel like hunting for a solution just then I played some more of the DMC games. Finished DMC1 and moved onto 2 for about 1 hour before getting fed up and putting in DMC3...ahh much better.

I beat Bioshock! Yay! I have a love - hate relationship with this game I decided... I was blown away by it in the beginning then I kind of lost interest in the middle but by the end it had me hooked again. I think the bottom line is that as a game it is nothing special but as an experience it is un-rivaled.

Knocked out a little bit more Phantom Hourglass during Indians games when I wasn't too busy having a heart attack. Great game so far. The stylus control works really well.

Played the CoD4 and UT3 demos. Both were very pretty, ran extremely well with max settings, and were just a lot of fun.

I also tried the Ratchet and Clank demo. PS3 haters need to take a look at that game. It is beautiful. Those who said it feels like you are playing a Pixar cartoon weren't exaggerating.

Yes, it is that good. I played HL2 on PC and I can say it's great on the 360. After playing EP1 and 2 I went right into HL2 again since I haven't played it since it came out, forgot how good HL2 is. If you like shooters the Orange Box is a must have.

Jesus, I actually just finished playing that. Wasn't even going to mention it because it seems such an obscure old title.

I wish there was a modern simcity4-esque Tropico, and I also wish there was more of an incentive to rule with an iron fist. Its just so much more convenient to allow democracy, I never lose the vote no matter how badly I treat them anyway.

Its just so much more convenient to allow democracy, I never lose the vote no matter how badly I treat them anyway.Yeah, I always give them the basics (church, clinic, housing), and hardly ever have trouble staying in power. I've only had threats to power (rebels) in a couple games. Haven't tried the iron fist method much.

Normally, I only have trouble keeping high school/college educated workers from leaving their jobs, and end up paying for foreign workers way too often. Especially power plant workers.

But yeah, a new version, with slightly more modern graphics and a few new gameplay twists (maybe expand to multiple islands, buy new land, more international deals, more building types, etc.) would be great.

Actually played a lot of what I'd had planned. Final Fantasy Tactics PSP, Phoenix Wright 3 and Eternal Sonata got a lot of playtime. As did Puzzle Quest and Episode 2.

And I also played the "Call MS to arrange for 360 repairs" game as my console is getting really flakey with start-up and gives me a red light in the lower right quadrant. Sigh. I didn't want to play too much on the 360 because I'm afraid of the thing dying and taking all my data with it. I even backed up a lot of stuff on my memory card that I probably didn't need... Sigh.

I thought I was going to get a hell of a lot more time to game this weekend than I did.

I played a little bit more of Halo 1 on my xbox. I also got Forza and Rallisport and tried both of them. Damn, those are some good looking racing games.

I also played a tiny bit of Jedi Knight 2 on my Gamecube. I think the control is particularly horrid in this version, but I am gradually getting used to it.

Lastly, I got Mario Power Tour tennis on my GBA and played for almost 7 hours, which was almost enough to get to the first tennis match. Unfortunately I will have to start over and try to actually play some tennis on it next weekend.

I decided to give Halo 3 a rest this week and focused on PGR4. I'm loving it!

Portal and Episode 2. My son and I peeked at UT3. There were some elements of coolness, but I don't think I had enough exposure to pass judgment one way or another.

Mostly I got all the basement computers upgraded and in shape. Theoretically we can do three-way multiplayer games, as long as one person is willing to deal with a slow CPU and Radeon 9800 Pro.
