View Full Version : Weekend Gamer: What are you playing?

Jetherik
10-12-2007, 10:18 AM
It will be a fun weekend once I get all the household chores done (which will put a crimp in the fun). I will be watching football and the baseball playoffs (go D'Backs!) and playing some City of Heroes, Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends, and I will start World of Conflict. What will you be playing this weekend?

Got back into Gears of War (never finished that one) and I've been playing a bit of World of Warcraft again...the game that just...won't...die.

Once again, I'm working Saturday, so the same old "not as much as I'd like" applies. When I actually get the time, I'll be trying to finish up the main storyline for Jeanne D'Arc, but not before a bit of grinding for skill stones and a few more levels. Otherwise, it'll be a shitload of 360 demos for the rest of the weekend. :)

EDIT: And because I'm an idiot and completely forgot, I'll definately be getting in some Everyday Shooter.

-> The Darkness. The story is really pulling me in and I don't want to send it back without finishing it, now.
-> Bioshock. Just got started, lots to do.
-> Puzzle Quest XBLA. Effing addictive.
-> Halo 3. Need to try a playlist other than Ranked Team Slayer as well as picking up some more skulls.

I'll be replaying Half-Life 2 and diving into Episode one (which I bought previously and never played) and Ep 2. Of course, some buddies are tossing around the idea of getting a good ole' fashioned Halo party going so Saturday could be written off to my system link cable.

edit: Goddammit, I forgot I downloaded the CoD4 PC demo last night. Woe is me!

Finish the last few levels of Portal, try the demos for CoD4, UT3 (or attempt to play them on my aging pc), and the R&C demo on my PS3.

*Shakes head @ you*

The reason why youre missing out on finishing great games like Gears of war is because you’re stuck in one that you constantly pay for and never ends.

I will hopefully finish the main storyline for Jeanne D'Arc and Portal. I also have a ton of demos to try as well as more TF2. I just picked up Shadow of the Colossus so I might start that as well.

And remember, if at first you don't succeed, you fail.

Everyday Shooter
I think I'm going to give my PC a workout this weekend with Team Fortress 2, Episode 2 and the like. Probably play some WiC too.

Finish that off with UT3 Demo and CoD4 Demo.

Man that's a tough question. I've got Orange Box so I'll definitely be playing some of that. I'm also getting close to finally finishing Twilight Princess, so I'll probably be playing that too. I'd also like to fit in a little Halo 3 multiplayer since I haven't had much time with it yet, and I've got a copy of Metroid Prime 3 that just arrived from Gamefly. It's going to be a very full weekend indeed.

Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, Opposing Fronts, Puzzle Quest, and probably some Halo 3.

I bet I'll buy a few games over the weekend though.

I'm playing "Get Smashed at a Wedding", going to try and avoid "Making an Ass Out of Myself", but no guarantees, can't keep my hands off that one. Probably finish off the weekend with some "I'll Never Drink Again."

Good times. So yeah, no games for me this weekend :(

I'll be working my way through all the Half Life goodness in The orange Box. It'll be my third time playing HL2 and Episode 1, but I just can't bring myself to play Episode 2 without reliving the first two.

then I'm going to try and get my Halo skulls completed. Then maybe go outside.

Finish HL2 Episode 2.
Portal's advanced chambers.
I just got Sin & Punishment yesterday, and I'm dying to try it. Gonna play that some this weekend!
Any extra time will, of course, go to Team Fortress 2.

Edit: And the Call of Duty 4 demo!

Well, I finished Episode 2, and Portal (twice for portal, plus advanced puzzles). Both are amazing.
I've been playing TF2 for weeks, so that will continue this weekend, I'm sure.

I have to play more of Everyday Shooter, so I'll do that at some point.
UT3 demo should be ready to play by tonight.
Oooh, and I got my first game from Gamefly today (took all week to get here :/), so I'll be playing through Heavenly Sword!!

Probably some WoW, gotta get my new character to 40 and get him his Brewfest mount! Then some TF2, of course. And probably replay Portal with commentary and may play through HL2 and/or EP1 again. Maybe some STALKER if I have time.

I also have Rainbow Six Vegas. I've had it sitting on my floor, unopened, but I have no desire to play it, so I'm thinking I may return it to Best Buy (bought it six months ago) and then buy Two Worlds instead. Or C&C3, I'm not sure what I want just yet.

Ah, my final weekend of my vacation. At least things are relatively calm and I'm not bombarded by a million family members as opposed to last weekend.

Behold the list!

DS - Phoenix Wright: Trials & Tribulations (Final case bay-bee!), Chibi Robo: Park Patrol and maybe some Phantom Hourglass.

PC - HL:Episode 2, TF2 if I have some free time

360 - Eternal Sonata (Finally getting back to this after neglecting it for Halo 3 for the past couple weeks)

PSP - FFT Remake, Crush, Me & My Katamari

These are the games I want to play... We'll see what I actually get around to.

I'm on Agents of chaos II: Jedi Eclipse...Enjoy. I think the NJO storyline is the best Star Wars story, period. It totally shakes up the SW Universe and rather than rehashing the Galactic Civil War for the 300th time, actually introduces a lot of new elements to the Star Wars saga without breaking the established universe.

360: Bioshock. Though I've haven't been as interested in it since I reached a certain point in the story.

PS3: Heavenly Sword if GameFly kept to their word and the R&C demo. I'm actually excited by a R&C game for the first time.

DS: Picross. It literally owns my soul. I even considered bringing it to a wedding. :o

Finished Portal and am well into Episode 2. I'd like to try out the Unreal 3 demo. If I can get a power supply for my second computer, my son and I can try out the multiplayer, which sounds good. His favorite multiplayer game at the moment is Garry's Mod, of all things.

I'm thinking HL2:EP2 and Portal goodness. I also finished the CoD4 demo. That moved from a "Meh" to must buy on my list. Also some HG London beta, and TF2. The number of games on the PC over the next two months is crazy!

So 360 doesn't feel lonely, Halo3 and Stranglehold, followed by some NHL2008 love. Good thing its supposed to rain all weekend or I'd have to be responsible and work on the house. :)

Wife is out of town again, so lots of gaming time. I just picked up NHL08 for the 360 - first hockey game I've bought since Hitz 2002. I'm going to try to finish up MK:Armageddon's Konquest Mode on Wii, and I've got the 5200 itch, so that will get a little use. I also recently picked up Confidential Mission for my DC and it's 110% awesome, so I have to play a few rounds of that.

Everything on the PC, everything via Steam. Civ4, any of the games I bought in the Popcap Favorites package (Good Lord, I gave in to the devil!), TF2, Portal, and Half-Life 2 + the episodes. I've even been going back to Blue-Shift & Half-Life: Source (I'm really looking forward to Black Mesa coming out so I can play through HL1 in Source. I'm growing more and more dependent on Steam for my gaming sustenance.

And you know what? I like it.

The story definitely doesn't take long to get through - but I dare you to try and collect all the character cards and recipes, beat both Pits of 100 Trials, and the 100 Knight Battle or whatever it's called.

There's a lot there to take up time, if you feel so inclined. (I didn't.) *lol*

They fed me some story about copyright laws and that I could have activated a subscription or something. Total crap, and I didn't have time to argue. Had to get home to get ready for work. So I guess I will just have to send them to MS and get them replaced. At least that is free, except for shipping costs.

Yeah, that's what I'd do, I'd even try getting the manager. There's no "subscription" that you could have activated with Halo 3, other than maybe the free 48 hours of LIVE they offer with it, but even that has a scratch off, doesn't it?

Raise hell, man, because it's the difference between being able to play the game tonight, or 2-3 weeks from now.

I never bought so many games in just 2 days:

Not enough cubicles in Extraction Point for ya

LOL... No, the story is weak and unimaginative compared to the original. Just more of the same, no scares, mindless run and gun. There were only like two OMG moments, and I am thinking that the nest expansion Perseus Mandate is just as bland.

Played the Bioshock demo last night. Sweet Zombie Jesus, that game looks amazing. Great atmosphere. It also got the "Wife Seal of Approval" as being a great game to watch (like Silent Hill). I'm really going to have to get that soon. Like today. :)

Update: So I went to a Gamestop, and they swapped out the play disc for me. I will just send the extras disc in to MS to be replaced. Say what you want about Gamestop, but they took care of me when it was against their policy to do so.

From my experience, the employees are great, but corporate sucks ass.

And when did you get a 360? Did you win the lottery or something?

On a sad note, it looks like my 360 is on life support. I keep getting that red light in the lower quadrant with an E74 error. I went out and picked up a memory card so I got to play the "Back Up Your Save Games" game this afternoon while trying to decide if I should bother playing games on the 360 or just get it ready to ship back to MS... Sigh.

I won one in the subscriber contest for H3 a bit back, just got it Friday and I finally had a chance to sit down with it last night. Now I just need a Wii, eventually. :)

As far as your saves, can't you just send them the 360 itself and keep the HDD? Or do they require the entire thing?

Well, it turns out that they DO want me to keep the Hard Drive and just send the console in. The thing is, until I actually spoke to the nice lady at MS tech support, I thought that it was a Hard Drive failure that was occuring.... Oh well. Better safe than sorry, I guess.
