A couple of scans from a Japanese magazine showed screenshots of Biohazard 5 (Resident Evil 5) coming for Playstation 3 & Xbox 360. The scans are available at http://www.gamefront.de.
I think screenshots cease to do it for me. I think animated gifs should be the new website standard for showing off videogames.

I also agree, this is the age of video, so why not have more instudio tours and video footage of the game as it progresses. I wouldnt even mind paying a fee for this type of news to be honest. Konami does this alot for the silent hill games, hell i have the silent hill 2 dvd set with the videos on the production. Good stuff all around.

Well there are a lot of websites that have videos but it's usually a chore to watch them. First you have to open a new window, wait for the media player to initialize, wait for the video to buffer, watch an ad, wait for a website splashscreen to buffer, watch that, wait for the video to buffer, then finally watch it. Plus there have been MANY times when the video fails to play.
Of course the other option is downloading the video to your hard drive but that's also a bit of a hassle compared to just looking at a screenshot.
What I think they need is animated pictures that maybe show 5 seconds of gameplay but launched right in your browser without you even asking them to.

video converted to flash so you can easily stream it in a small file size?.
Sex?,
Yes please! :D
Also, i want to express how much i like the resident evil series, If capcom ever got it into their head to make a real fps SURVIVAL horror game, i would masterbate onto the disc, Not that i enjoy that or some type of crazy fetish, it's just that i know they would never do that style of game because they are mentally challenged in thinking of concepts. Albit the new re was an improvement of the game, it was not truly a resident evil game in my opinion. The action was too fast paced, and ammo was everywhere. I prefer the older style of RE games because they make you think about what your going to do. You cannot just go into any room and blast the zombies because if you do, you will have no ammo and be fucked over later. Aswell the shock value in the game also made it scary and to be honest i have a fear of zombies for some reason but i just use it as a spring board to actually watch scary movies. Most people dont get scared but i still can so i enjoy it. anyways, i dunno i dont think i would actually masturbate, i was more meaning the a mental masturbation of the disc because i was cherish it so much because that is the game i truly want to play. Unfortunally i feel that silent hill will take a first person viewpoint before resident evil. I was so hopful with the dreamcast version that contained the first person mode.

Eh, I'm excited and all, but wouldn't it have made a bigger splash if they just waited a few months and showed a video at TGS? Kind of an odd time to be leaking a few shots to Famitsu, especially since they have yet to release RE4 on PS2.
This shit looks no better than current generation graphics.

Huh.
Perhaps when some actual footage shows up in a year or two, this game will look neat :D

Despite it looking rather badass and im sure following along in the foot steps of RE4, I'm looking more forward to Capcom's other next gen zombie title Dead Rising. There seems to be alot more happening from the screenshots of that with the hundreds of zombies and being able to use anything you can get your hands on (a lawnmower just like in Dead Alive? Count me in!).

RE5 on Xbox 360?
It's a step up from Dino Crisis 3.

I dunno what I'm expecting from next gen consoles but that just doesn't do it, sure it's "realistic" or something w/e but I dunno its still only a step up from what we have, as others have said. It's definately no instant orgasm inducing graphics.

Yeah, Who'da thunk that small grainy scans of a magazine for a game at the beginning of its 3-5 year development cycle would fail to blow everyone and their mother away?

I don't think I ever have any problems with Gamespot video.

I thought RE4 was awesome can't wait for this one.
As for those who complain about the graphics, how much better do you expect games to look, with stuff on the current Gen. of gaming can look pretty realistic it's not like it can get much better. The thing with the next gen that will make it better than this Gen. is that it will be able to produce the best graphics that this Gen. has and be able to have many more instances of it. for example: rather than having one or two realistic looking zombies in one room having 15 or 20 while looking perfect and not lagging. And if all you ever do is judge a game on its graphics you will be dissapointed, many times I have played good-looking games that just plain sucked.

Except all the waiting for buffering for ads and splash screens, like was mentioned. Still, they're pretty good overall.
I am a little surprised these are PS3/Xbox 360 shots, but it is still way early in the consoles' lives, so I'm not complaining about more RE.

Yep. Capcom submits. Next announcement: Konami an MGS4 for 360.
The number of big title 3rd party exclusives the PS3 will have next gen is going to be zero.

Resident Evil 4 was simultaniously the first Resident Evil game I could remotely stand, and one of my favorite console action games of all time.
As long as they keep the controls and perspective from RE4, rather than reverting to the old shit-town way, it should be phenominal. The only thing I'm worried about is... RE4 was so good. Are there any good ideas left for them to do? I think RE4 had every good idea possible. :p

I'm doubting it. Ten bucks says it'll be just like current gen -- as in, MGS4 is exclusive to PS3 for about a year until a special edition is made and released on PS3 and Xbox 360.

I'm almost 100% positive that the developers have said in interviews that they're sticking with the more action-oriented control method. Thank god.

RE4 even had it's flaws. It's control scheme was by no means perfect. It would be nice to still be able to dodge and strafe while you aim. Granted it does add a bit more 'fear factor' to the game knowing that you can't dodge (cause you gotta be faster and more accurate), but it still takes a lot away from the gameplay. Realistically if you were in Leon's shoes you wouldn't just stand there and let some zombies eat your neck.

Man resident evil as i know and love is dead :*(. Why cannot they just make are hard game instead of making it a blastfest, the whole point of the other games were based around puzzles and being able to survive the zombies with limited ammo. BLARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGg

It's totally possible that I'm just a pussy, but I thought RE4 was pretty hard. At least it gave me a bigger challenge than most games I play (while not being impossible).

Looks about what they hoped RE4 would look like till they had to get it to run on the GameCube. Good stuff, I'm looking forward to it.

...Whaaa? As opposed to running it on what? The PS2, which it's more powerful than? The Xbox, which is only barely more powerful than it?

Actually it's Chris Redfield accoring to producer Jun Takeuchi. With the look and the feel of the game supposed to be like Black Hawk Down, but than again RE games are known to change mid way during development so meh.

Resident Evil 2 was scrapped halfway through because they didn't like the direction it was taking. Development was restarted, but strangely enough it was to actually remove a variety of wild changes in setting and play style from RE1 that apparently weren't working out. Devil May Cry arose from the initial attempts at RE4 for the PS2, development was then restarted and shifted to the GC, where it was again totally revamped.
What have we learnt? Never ever doubt Capcom on strange developments in the series, even if tommorrow it is revealed that RE5 takes place on Mars in the year 1867, and you play as a space cowboy called Dirk Pickens determined to survive an assault by pirates.

Check it out: Early RE4 (http://media.cube.ign.com/media/015/015821/vids_8.html) (the stuff from 2003, and god IGN has some crappy videos).
It looks like an entirely different game, especially where lighting is concerned but there's also more detail in the rooms than in the final one. You can't really see it in these videos but they also had fur going on on his coat which was taken out.

I dont think its that a crazy change, by Black Hawk Down they mean like abunch of people of a villiage or country attacking a foreigner and outgunned and outnumbered. So in ways still like RE4 so far it seems.

I've seen the early pics and such, but those were still meant to go on Gamecube, and the game wasn't changed due to technological concerns (as far as has been said). I'd say the differences aren't too huge, but yeah, the fur was cool.

I think you misunderstand my post. What I was saying was in response to someone else saying "The RE games are known to go through crazy changes during development." I wasn't commenting on the craziness of the game or setting or anything.

I'd say the differences aren't too huge, but yeah, the fur was cool.I have no doubt that it was always intended to go on a game cube. Sometimes developers make demos on computer to show what their game will be like, so I assume that's what those videos were running on. Either that or the GC dev kits have higher specs than the final system and they maxed it out early on in development, then had to scale it back.
My favorite part of that is the open window with the curtains. It would be nice if they had cloth dynamics like that in the upcoming RE5.
